Valentina Shevchenko

I can't find the interview, but she said that she, her sister and their coach had lived in Russia for a time and wanted to try something completely different. They moved to Peru, loved it, and decided to stay.
That's a hell of a change. Pretty interesting where some people can end up.

So since she only had 1 weeks notice, how was she able to fight 3 rounds without being completely gassed and quit in the 2nd round like Mendes who was training for Conor about 3 weeks out.

Body shots, likewise Mendes was out eating and partying. He didn't have his weight down. Huge cut on very short notice. She was probably either in camp or at least not far off weight. Not to mention, taking someone down and laying a beating on them will gas you out.

Tak!
I was thinking about it since I saw Peru in several pics. And I wonder how in the world did she end up there.
Its kind of a random place and to my knowledge not really known as a combat sport Mecca.

Here is the interview where it is embedded on why she went to peru. Actually she was competing in several South American countries and traveled to Peru and during that time did seminars and started teaching Muay Thai there. Loved the people, the culture, the food, and natural geography.

Mendes carries a lot more muscle; Someone carrying that much muscle requires more effort to keep their endurance in check than someone who isn't carrying a lot of muscle.

Well, my, uh "friend", got banned for just honestly answering a question just like this, so I'll stay away from the rant.
But she has more in common with the people she trains with then with the Dagestani or Chechen camps that are the place to train in Russia
Lima is still a really long way away to go for that, and isn't exactly an MMA mecca. I bet she has an interesting story for how she ended up there, hopefully she'll go far enough to be the focus of some pre-fight videos.

EDIT: video posted while writing this, that answers things I guess :p Thanks!

EDIT2: After this interview, reading her wiki, and now watching some of her kickboxing fights.... Holy shit I'm excited for her vs the upper tiers of the division down the line, especially Holm if she can get there. Her only loss is from a cut due to illegal upkick...

EDIT3: She's INSANELY clinch dependent tho, that might not be a good thing considering how good RR and Holm are in the clinch.... maybe she's better than Holm in the clinch but it's easier to be defensive than offensive.

looked good, want see more of her muay thai more in the next fight
That is her muay thai... she clinches enough that she got a yellow card after literally 10+ warnings in round 1 followed by another 5 in round 2 in a Kunlun fight recently... Duno, her other techniques look really crisp and powerful as well (wicked spinning backfist), but she clinches a lottttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt.

Both Chad and Conor were gassing and fighting wildly. It was an emotional fight, a full training camp wouldn`t have changed anything imo.

Chad did eat a lot of kicks to the body as well

As for Shevchenko, Her family runs their own Muay Thai school in Peru. The people of Peru were very eager to learn Muay Thai from them, so they opened a gym and made it their home.
