Valentina basically saying Grasso won by luck

She got caught by surprise but it was no luck, Grasso definitely planned for it and how smoothly she pulled it off definitely shows drilled that over and over again and waited for the perfect chance to take advantage and boy did she. Valentina is just butthurt she lost fair and square no luck involved all skills.

Depending on if you believe what Grasso said, they trained specifically for that back take off a spin kick. The problem with Valentina sometimes, as has been mentioned here, is that she is a bit too formulaic at times.

Any one trying to paint this as complete dominance by Valentina and then a fluke mistake is wrong. Grasso had won at least around and damaged Valentina with strikes. It was a competitive fight.

Naw, that wasn't luck. You like doing that spinning stuff, we all know you like doing it, Grasso's camp knows you like doing it as well, and they trained for it. Grasso was way too fast for that specific move for it to be "just luck."

"one wrong thing" doesn't sound like Val is saying luck, it sounds like she's saying she made a mistake and paid for it, as far as thinking she was winning a close fight.....what fighter doesn't.?

I used to excuse her arrogance as a language barrier thing. That was several years ago.

Going in I didn't give Grasso much of a chance. Before the first round was over, that opinion changed 180 degrees.

I was sending out the hey hey-ey goodbye song in texts before the 1st ended.

I was rooting for Grasso and think Val has gotten somewhat arrogant but she didnt say it was luck. She was pretty spot on in describing what happened.
Grasso looked great in round 1 but Val was winning handily on the cards once she started to use her wrestling. Against most, Val might have gotten away with it but Alexa deserves all the credit in the world for taking advantage of Val's mistake.

Grasso looked great in Round 1 only because everyone was expecting Shevchenko to have a clear advantage everywhere. The striking was almost even, and Shevchenko even pulled ahead in significant strikes with a flurry at the end. I still gave Grasso Round 1, but it was a lot closer than a lot of people are admitting.

What a weird finishing sequence, the whole missed kick and back -take as a counter . I don’t think Valentina looked good either (to her standards) but it did seem a bit fluky finish.I’d def favor Val in the rematch.Valentina IS 34 yrs old now, not exactly post menopausal but she maybe losing a half a step now

Some people probably made good betting on Grasso on fight night.

I know I should have. It was 6:1 odds for Grasso after all

Val is slowing down but I think she's better than Grasso and just made a mistake.
not just a mistake
she was tagged throughout the whole fight and visibly slowed down
had to panic wrestle
when the takedowns didnt work anymore she had to resort to wild moves like that spinning kick
grasso was well prepared

Whether it was panic wrestling or not it was winning rounds. And the standup was a slight edge to Grasso.

The ending of the fight reminded me a little of Rockhold vs. Wiedman. The Chris/Bullet threw one ill-timed "spinning shit" and their opponents were all over them and made them pay.

I agree OP, having someone on your back isn’t even dangerous most of the time, amirite Volk bros???

I love how Val complained about Santos holding on to her to win rounds when that's exactly what Val tried to do against Grasso after getting beat up on the feet.

Grasso won the first round and once she took the back was winning the 4th round and boom, finish! Valentina always looks great, but I think her age is catching up with her

The difference in punching power was so apparent. Grasso throws fuckin HEAT

She seemed delusional, Grasso at the very least was winning rounds, had it gone to a decision who knows who would've won the last two rounds.

W125 is a wasteland of regional shit talent. I like Alexa though so I'm glad she won the belt, but what an absolute garbage division.

When it comes down to "Watch out for Erin Blandfield and Manon Fiorot" you know the competition is LFA level at best.

I think if Valentina stayed at 135 she would have racked more losses too.

Valentina is right though. We see it happen all the time. One bad move and you are done.
