Honestly, even though Shavkat Rakhmonov is way lower in rank than Kamaru Usman, Usman vs Rakhmonov would still be an amazing fight. If Yan (#1) vs O’Malley (#13) is taking place, then why can’t Usman (#1) vs Rakhmonov (#10) take place? What are your thoughts on this hypothetical matchup?

Maybe if Usman loses to Leon again...
Even then I don't see Dana booking that fight.

Usman was still looking good in his fight against Leon, I think he could be too much for Shavkat right now. Definitely an interesting match up though.

I'm thinking WW is aged and new guys will take over the first chance they get. Usman was a beast, but debatable he's still in top form.

Why? Usman can be compared to GSP and now he should fight a "nobody" just because he lost a fight he was going to win?

Usman was exposed, never any good, and should retire. He should feel blessed to fight a true future GOAT in Shavkat.

Seriously though, I'd love to see it, but I think everyone is going to be ducking Shavkat. Khamzat quality prospect, with not even a fraction of the hype.

I think Shavkat vs Usman would be a great matchup. I feel like the ground games cancel each other out because they are both really good on the ground. However, I believe Shavkat has a better submission game. If it turns into a striking battle, this could be a cause for concern for Shavkat as I think Usman is the better striker. Though I believe that Usman has more experience on his side as he's had more fights against top-level competition. I would love to see the matchup tho. Usman is getting a bit older tho, and with Chimaev missing weight, this could be a potential pass-the-torch kind of fight. It would be insanely competitive though.

In the ground, Shavkat submit him easily if he gets on top, look at how easily Edwards got the back and we saw Shavkat get a RNC on Prazeras who got no neck. In the feet i also give the edge to Shavkat, he's just better, and have more weapons, kick, spinning kicks, jabs but Usman got the toughness for him and i also feel he can take down Shavkat but Shavkat is dangerous, he guillotine Magny 5 seconds before the ring.

Would be a great fight; but bad for the division.

I only say that because I'm not an advocate for fighters coming off a loss competing against fighters on such dominant win streaks (even if it was against lower tier competition.)

Having defended multiple times, Usman has a much better argument at a title shot (even if the Leon rematch couldn't take place.)

The UFC should continue to build up Rakhmonov; or use him to keep someone like Colby relevant to the title picture now that Usman is getting closer to retirement.

Not happening. Shavkat is much better than the guys Usman chooses to defend against. He literally called out a journeyman for a rematch, and you think this fight is even remotely possible? I honestly don’t ever see this fight happening.

The sooner Usman leaves the sport, the better off that division will be. Take Colby, WB, and Masvidal with you.
