Media Usman slams Khamzat forward into the mat to break his rear naked choke attempt

This move sums up Usman being a savage with that championship-level experience. Almost anyone else would've been done there and Usman slammed his way out

Usman deserved a 28-28 draw, lost the first round 10-8 but won R2 and R3
He didnt win the 3rd

he doesn't get slammed nearly as bad if the body triangle isn't in. and by "let go of the body triangle" that doesn't mean he keeps his legs hooked in, either. you let go of the position. Usman isn't GRABBING Khamzat and slamming him. Khamzat is HOLDING on to Usman. If he gets slammed, that's on his dumbass for not letting go of the submission. Khamzat has plenty of opportunities to let go or change position before he gets slammed with Usman when he dives like that.
If a fighter is fully in control of avoiding getting slammed by simply letting go of a position I don't see why it should be illegal, especially a position like an RNC where it's easy to just let go. A triangle is a bit different so there's a decent argument there.

You’re acting like this is just on Chimaev because he could’ve “let go,” but that’s the same flawed logic baseball used before the Chase Utley rule. Sliding into second base was always legal, and turning a double play was just part of the game…both actions on their own were fine. But when you combined them, it created a high risk of serious knee and ankle injuries, so MLB stepped in and made a rule. It wasn’t about blaming the runner for sliding or the infielder for turning two, it was about recognizing that the combination of two normal actions created a dangerous situation. Same thing here: Chimaev holding the body triangle and Usman diving forward aren’t “illegal” individually, but together they can cause catastrophic injury. That’s when you protect fighters from themselves with a rule, because safety has to come first.

If you wanna eventually see somebody getting paralyzed for life that’s on you… I do not. Sometimes you have to make these compromises and enact these rule changes purely for safety.

Khamzat tore his ligament in his hand during this round. Still 10-8'd him. And still secured a TD in the 3rd round and controlled Usman for almost 3 minutes (Usman had only been taken down once in his career prior to this fight).

Pretty sure that spiking someone on his head is illegal in unified rules. Obviously judges tend to not see that stuff. Just like kicks to the back of the head. I guess you can argue he could have just let go. My counter argument would be - there window to do that was very small.
I don't remember the last time a spike has been called, Edward's got spiked badly vs Belal but no one cares because it's Leon.
