Aldo fought in a much weaker division. Defending your belt means shit when the title challengers are weakIdk how this is even still being debated. Aldo is the FW king, no one is even close.

You sure? He beat KZ almost a decade earlier, beat Chad twice and quicker once, took out Frankie who had a legitimate claim to the Lightweight title at the time.
Prime Aldo beats Volk word to your motherI love Aldo but he is nowhere near Volks level
I was sitting here trying to rationalize who would be next after Topuria, and looking at the rankings, and understanding one of the UFC's current angles, and smmfh...would you believe Ortega, if he wins one fight? I know it isn't justified, and us here who care about some integrity in this sport would wtf? that idea in a second, but there is little integrity at UFC HQ and they wanna break into Mexico in a big way, and I wouldn't be surprised. If he gets past yair tomorrow, I think he beats topuria pretty easily and I have no idea who would be after that. Time isn't on volk's side, though, so I'm not sure if he can rival aldo's numbers at FW. A big win at LW will do a lot for volk's overall legacy, though.
Yeah, defeating the likes of Hominick, Gamburyan and Florian not really that impressive. Lamas is an alright win. Overall, Volk's resume is superior and has a win over Aldo, too. Beating Holloway 3 times alone is an incredible accomplishment and aging incredibly well, considering Max can beat everyone but Volk. Aldo also lost to every FW champion. Numbers are important but so are losses.its sherdog bro, the understanding of the sport here isn't that great. Actually thinking beyond "how many did they beat" and instead "who did they beat" is a big ask.
Apparently, 32 yr old Aldo is a washed Aldo.Prime Aldo beats Volk word to your mother

11 years and 26 fights deep by the time he fought Conor, with a bad leg and back injury, along with the antiquated training methods and sparring at Nova Uniao? I would say it's something to consider.
I can understand the argument for each one.
As far as title defenses, it's Aldo by a long shot
Top ten wins- Aldo and Max have 12 each. Volk has 9
Volk has 4 wins combined over the other two though.
What do you rank higher?
yet Izzy is 100 fights deep.
It’s debatable. Prime Frankie Edgar (twice) and Prime Chad Mendes are better than anyone Volkanovski has beat short of Max Holloway (and even that is debatable because there weren’t any wrestlers or complete grapplers like that during Holloways reign). Aldo’s definitely not going to be the same after three KO losses and ten years of competition.Yeah, defeating the likes of Hominick, Gamburyan and Florian not really that impressive. Aldo was the ripe old age of 29 when McGregor dethroned him. If someone is past their prime at 29....Prime Aldo beats Volk word to your mother
He was road-worn by that time, yes he was technically 32, but more like 38/39 in fight years just based on wear and tear.Apparently, 32 yr old Aldo is a washed Aldo.
