Both guys on the broadcast arguing over Max being the GOAT 145lb fighter rn. What a cringe fest.
DC’s list:
1. Max
2. Aldo
3. Volk

Marty’s list:
1. Aldo
2. Max
3. Volk

It's either Aldo or McGregor, that's for sure, since Conor beat Max and Aldo long before Alex did I'd side with Conor -- he did it before they were both washed.

Considering Aldo has more title defenses than both Max and Volkanovski combined with nine to their seven. It's still him.
At this point it's Jose, Volkanovski and then Holloway.

We don't agree on much ... but we definitely agree on this.

Love Max, rooted for him against Volkanovski (every time), but Volkanovski proved himself every time.

It's sad for Max, that Volk appeared during his reign, but he did.

And, as Max likes to say, "It is what it is…"

I can understand the argument for each one.

As far as title defenses, it's Aldo by a long shot

Top ten wins- Aldo and Max have 12 each. Volk has 9

Volk has 4 wins combined over the other two though.

What do you rank higher?

Aldo had the largest separation (as far as the level he was on, at his peak) from the rest of the division.

Max and Volk are toss ups in that criteria. Volk’s win in the 3rd fight against Max, is his magnum opus. Fought the most dominant challenger ever, and no round was close. Max’s dominant championship reign is his magnum opus, 4 finishes and 1 dominant decision.

Conor had the dominance factor but too short of a championship reign.

Aldo > Volkanovski > Max

Volk needs a few more wins to make it a debate. DC is being silly. If Volk loses tomorrow nobody is going to be arguing this. It's like when people were prematurely comparing Woodley and Usman to GSP. Gotta let their careers play out first.

If you put Max over Aldo for beating him twice, since Aldo has done much more in the division,

how can you then put Max over Volk who beat him three times?

I swear Cormier got some serious CTE from intense UFC-shilling after his MMA career.

I'd still put Max at #2, even with the Volk losses. I will never forget the Ortega fight, one of my favorite MMA moments and a true display of his greatness.

Oh absolutely. I've watched that and the Kattar fight (along with the rest of them, really) countless times. The pace and volume he puts on guys is just unreal. I don't think anyone will ever captivate me the way Max has.
