Usman - Chimaev Media Scores

Why is it so bad to have it a draw? What did Khamzat do to say the scorecards are bad? I honestly thought his work was super inefective in rds 2 and 3 and the only reason he walked away with a win was Usman didnt make him work more.

I had Kham 29-27 btw. But how the fook is draw out of the question. Gtfo with targeting others when your own scoring skills are at this level.

That's true, I could have seen it being a draw as well.

10-8 rd 1 for Khamzat, Usman Round 2 & 3 10-9. Draw would’ve been fair.

This is the fight I saw. I think that was a good example of a 10-8 without someone nearly getting killed. He had no offense whatsoever and was in legitimate danger on at least 2 occasions.

He won the 2nd for sure and it is fair to say he won the third. Although I wouldn't argue too hard if Khamzat was given that as well. . . Khamzat win or draw.

No way on earth can see an Usman win.

TS is one of those people. He thinks 30-26 is the correct score lmao.
I thought round 1 was 10-9, not surprising some see it 10-8. I saw round 2 10-9 Usman, but 10-10 is acceptable. Round 3 I saw 10-9 Usman, with 10-10 being less acceptable than round 2, but best possible score for Khamzat that round as well.

Yup. I had it 28-28 but I'm also shaky on whether round 1 was a 10-8 or not. So a draw or 29-28 Usman.

Round 2 was razor close and is up for interpretation.

Round 3 I'm not sure how people give to Khamzat. Usman was walking him down and boxing him up, he was getting the better of the striking for over 3 minutes of the round. Khamzat got a takedown which he did nothing with except a bit of lay and pray, and even then only for 90 seconds. 10-9 Usman.

28-28 draw or a 29-28 either way are acceptable scores. So is 29-27 Khamzat.

The only way you get 30-26 is if you just default to "Khamzat wins lol" whenever he has a close round and you give him a 10-8 for any round he definitively wins.

Yeah most people seem to think that he was so dominant in round 1 that it gave him extra points in the other 2 rounds, doesn't make sense.

There's a lot of fans and journalists who don't realise the scoring criteria was updated about 3-4 years ago to say that lying on top of someone doesn't count for anything unless you use the position to do damage.

Many are also brainwashed by years of UFC scoring that simply lying on top somehow constitutes a beating. Back when Pride FC was still a thing people used to say that UFC scoring is trash and rewards lay and pray.

If Khamzat being on top was so significant he should have used that to go for a submission or to land more strikes than Usman. The striking stats show he was outstruck in round 2 and heavily outstruck in round 3. Considering he actually landed meaningful blows in round 2, I think he should have won that round with the updated scoring criteria.

Alright, what I'm interested is in that 29-26 scorecard. How the fuck does that one come about?

Only way is to go 10-7 then 10-10 and 9-10 on either of the last two.

Think that guy is a bit of a nutjob from what I hear.

Round 1 Khamzat was using everything he had just to hold onto Usman's back, shouldn't be scored 10-8 IMO.

No need to post this long list. We only care about Sherdog specialists.
