Usman Appreciation Thread

His wars with Colby, Burns , KO of Mas will not be forgotten

There was repeat opponents, but It was a more interesting title reign than Woodleys
Fighting Mas is one of the reasons nobody should make this thread in the first place.

I remember being so happy that he ended Woodley’s nonsense only to somehow become even more annoying than Woodley. So annoying so early that I actually rooted for Woodley.

Cmon bruh.
Also, Hughes is clear #2, Usman literally only fought three people during his title reign, only defended the title once more than Woodley did. Recency bias is a motherfuker, anyone thinking footstomp Marty was P4P #1 at any point is deluded.
Beats Colby x2 (I thought the rematch was a draw)
Beats Burns, his arguable best win
Beats Masvidal x2 (lmao)

GSP has the most insecure fanbase, props for coming out and admitting it tho TS

I mean him winning the title was just an uncomfortable fight to watch, 1000 clinch body shots against the cage and some takedowns
The first title defense against Colby was a long time coming and it was supposed to be Colby vs Woodley but Usman got the title fight cause Colby said he was waiting at Dana’s car and he was nearly finished, we saw Usman’s willingness to be a dirty fighter in this fight which was a crazy fight and he gained some respect in it
Then his 1st defense against Masvidal was an absolutely horrible fight as well, 1000 footstomps clinched against the cage, Jorge looked pretty good against him all things considered
Against Burns he fought a high pace action fight, he stops him after getting dropped
The rest of his title reign was alright, he was really coming into his own as champion and started actually being taken seriously in all facets of the game

He's the 2nd best WW of all time behind GSP. Put on some epic fights and cleaned out his division.

Deserves more recognition than he gets.

A dirty, boring but very effective fighter. Better than GSP.

Educate yourself.

Hughes has 9 title fight wins, and wins over 6 champions that have held belts in 3 different weight classes.

Usman only fought 4 different fighters since winning the title. No wins over other champions (other than winning the belt from The Frozen One), let alone guys that won titles in other weight classes. It's not even close.

Nobody reads or gives a fuck about mmanews.com

you can believe what you want. i'm just stating the fact that usman was at one point at the top of the OFFICIAL ufc p4p list. its an accomplishment for any fighter. he's in rare company

His win vs Burns was very impressive to me. Weathered the early storm and stayed very composed against a very dangerous guy. Only knock against his reign was all the rematches
