Crime Use it in a Sentence (special counsel thread v. 25)

I'm much more pessimistic. There is no shortage of reasons to abandon Trump based on ethical concerns (or better stated lack of ethics). The fact that these guys are hanging on to the idea that everything is ok until an actual crime is proven illustrates that they cannot be saved.

For example, it's ok that he paid off a porn star he banged while his wife was recovering from child birth as long as he didn't break campaign finance laws? That position, which is widely held by his supporters, illustrates cult like behavior. And when case for campaign finance fraud is imminent (which it looks to be the case) the position will change to something else (all politicians do it).

For the good of the country I seriously hope you're right, though. I just don't think these people are redeemable.
I'm one step ahead of you and believe criminality has already been proven in the southern district of New York filing. I gotta stay optimistic for the sake of my own sanity but I recognize you're likely right. I'm not ready to give up on north American democracy though. I'm sure things look almost this bleak during Watergate but eventually justice won out. Different climate and era now though. Things look quite dire I must admit.

The Russians never really cared who won the US election, or any of the many european elections they have meddled in. They are out to cause instability and rifts. Of course, they will gladly take a bribe, or lifted sanction, here and there when offered, but the thing they want is destabilisation of rivals.

Good job so far.

I've been saying this since 2016. They won the cold war via 5th round tko with it.

Interesting. Reporting seems to suggest that they at least have a very strong case. Why do you believe the crime was already proven?

And yeah, the country will survive and future leaders will be tasked with cleaning up the Trump mess. And we have the potential for more damage before he's done. But I think there is a section of the American population that is really susceptible to demagogues and who's to say that someone else paying careful attention to what Trump has done doesn't give it a run themselves?

@Farmer Br0wn still curious on how you feel about trump telling lies to voters regarding his business dealings and campaign meetings with russia.

I got that you were fine with those events, but didnt see a direct answer regarding the dishonesty with voters about it.

Dont forget on top of the evidence included in the southern district filing a cohen tape was leaked where he and the president discuss these payments and trump instructs Cohen to make them (in cash no less). Short of a vid dropping of trump handing Cohen a money bag with 'for campaign finance violations' on it I dont know what stronger evidence can be brought forward.

"Putin is our friend"

And she just so happened to be in the audience of an early trump campaign event where she got him to state publicly his friendlier stance towards the Russians....hmmm

There’s a saying in DC. Coincidences don’t happen in politics

No matter who was elected -- Republican, Democrat, or Martian -- you'd have had the "best year of business in over a decade," just like, before that, 2016 was the best year for business since 2007, and before that 2015 was the best year for business since 2007, and before that 2014 was the best year for business since 2007.

Also, even if there were tangible benefits to your business that were tied to giving rich people more money and cutting protections for regular folks, having some peon business do marginally better is not worth compromising the 200-year-old integrity of our political system.

My buisiness is dependent on well off folks, so..

They're completely irredeemable, that much is true.

The scariest thought is they represent perhaps up to half of his supporters. So when he's gone, the question then becomes who exactly is the next person to garner their support?

These guys are completely morally bankrupt

Completely ignoring the criminal aspect of this and just labeling it a common mistake. They really think you're stupid.

Trump should not have had sex with a woman
It was the wrong thing to do

It's all perfectly normal.
In exactly the same way as declaring multiple bankruptcies makes you a great businessman
