Honestly, Trump supporters would get a lot more respect (not intellectual respect, of course, but personal respect) from adults if they would just man up and say "yeah, he's corrupt and yeah he definitely conspired with the Russians, but I don't care because he's doing other things that I like that outweigh any of those concerns" instead of constantly downplaying the investigation.

The reason you're unable to arrive at the real answer is because you chalk these deep and real disagreements up to "cult of personality" explanations. That may simplify the world for you, but it's not going to help you arrive at any useful answer to complicated questions.
I'm open to hearing your perspective. Why do you believe Trump's conduct is permissible?

  • I voted for President Trump in both the primary and general elections knowing that he had vast international business ties. Many of which I didn't know about, and I considered them none of my business. It doesn't move the needle for me.
Nothing criminal was found in that meeting, and I personally don't find it controversial.

I keep most of my meetings confidential, and I'm a Seed Farmer. I don't consider that "deception".

Sure, you are ok with Trump's business dealings or his campaign's meeting with Russia. That's fine.

But the question was are you fine with him lieing to you about them? Trump didn't keep them "confidential", he outright denied their existence. That is a lie, and the purpose of a lie is to deceive.

So I'm curious, are you 100% fine with Trump lieing about it?

there is so much overload of impropriety with Trump et al, that it is hard to even focus enough to feel outrage at such blatant abuses as this.

I'm sure though that all of the Republicans, who hold the Lynch and Bill Clinton tarmac meeting as evidence of deep state collusion to protect Killary, will extrapolate that outrage to this instance of someone who is a central part of an ongoing investigation spending the day with Trump's handpicked AG shill who is overseeing that very investigation. @bobgeese is going to lead the charge.:D

Seriously though, this story needs more oxygen as it is really fucked up. Lynch rightfully recused after that meeting with Bill, and Whitaker needs to do the same as soon as yesterday.

he won't recuse though and his sycophants will say it is no big deal for someone being actively investigated, to offer a ride to, and get accepted by the Man who is in charge of said investigation on a private jet.

Happens all the time. lol.

So many Russians
So much happenstance
So many lies about it

My conclusion: it's all perfectly innocent and none of it looks suspicious

If it comes out Trump himself worked with Russia, I will personally write Vladimir a letter thanking him for helping elect a president who set up an economic environment that’s providing me with the best year of buisiness in over a decade.

Thanks Vlad,

But nothing changed in the past 10 years.

No matter who was elected -- Republican, Democrat, or Martian -- you'd have had the "best year of business in over a decade," just like, before that, 2016 was the best year for business since 2007, and before that 2015 was the best year for business since 2007, and before that 2014 was the best year for business since 2007.

Also, even if there were tangible benefits to your business that were tied to giving rich people more money and cutting protections for regular folks, having some peon business do marginally better is not worth compromising the 200-year-old integrity of our political system.

I can't imagine what the answer will be. The cases are building against Trump and it's obvious to anyone he's corrupt as fuck, but how does one continue to support him? It's analogous to cult behavior.

I don't see any redeeming qualities either. He's an asshole, trust fund baby, shitty business guy who's loud and obnoxious. What the hell is there to like?

Hey man he lowered my taxes.

You dont like living free and being able to determine your own governance without being dictated to be a hostile foreign power? To each their own ...I guess

I'm just glad that health insurance penalty BS is gone.

Yeah it's great now we're still paying the same healthcare costs, less people are contributing toward it, and we've increased the deficit further on top of the unnecessary tax cuts.

Great solution!

Nobody gives a dusty fuck about what moves the needle for you. If he committed crimes, he needs to be indicted, which a sitting president is subject to. This magic Justice Dept rule that says he cannot be indicted is a memo which was rebuked within the department soundly during the Watergate affair.

I honestly couldn't care less. I just had my son and I witnessed our health care system and it was one of the worst things I've ever seen in my life. Can you imagine walking into a store being charged for stuff left and right and yet no one can tell you how much anything cost? No one can tell you if it's covered by your insurance or not?

Our system is so fucked and if Obama was trying to put a band aid on it he failed and he should have just helped it crash into the fucking ground. That's what we need is for all this shit to just come crashing down so we are forced to actually do something about this. Not these half measure that only fuck over the middle class and poor.
