This is a bail out. Intel is on the verge of bankruptcy.
That's a bit dramatic given they'd go to the chop shop before declaring bankruptcy, not to mention they own x86 and still know what they're doing in client. It's really just datacenter that they're super far behind, and to a lesser extent IFS.
man, listening to the videogame forum here you'd think intel is already out of business
That's because they don't understand how small of a chunk gaming CPUs is of the overall market, and they also don't understand how shit the Steam Survey is and have understandably Never seen sell in or sell out data.

Totally there. He is canceling appropriated money. Money from bills that have been passed by Congress. He is bypassing Congress. This is unprecedented. Of course the seals clap because they see it as a win. They don't see rights being removed because "their guy" is in charge.

This democracy that we had was amazingly fragile and what I was sold as I grew up was and is a lie. The "American Dream" is and has been the great lie. It was a way for the monied class to work us harder. Give us a car and some TVs.

It’s not being dramatic. They halted production on a bunch of projections they were heavily invested in. Declaring bankruptcy doesn’t mean it would cease to exist but it does mean that they would probably shrink massively. The government is stepping in for a reason.

To the second point, I don’t know why you say that. I bet like 90+% of pc gamers are aware of that, especially since someone always feels the need to bring it up.

Most of the projects they've stopped aren't core businesses or going to sink the company via cancellation, aka CCG is sill intact and the dominant force in that market even after all the setbacks. IFS is in deep shit. The actual design part of the company not really, Intel is still near the top as far as chip design chops, not to mention at capacity for their legacy nodes.

Well if they were aware of it then the Intel is already dead crowd wouldn't be so large and vocal, would it?

China is much more pro free market capitalism than the US.
You can't start shit here without a mountain of red tape. I can go to Walmart though. I tried to start a hotdog cart years ago in Charlotte. It was mired in red tape and even when I set up shop other carts were hostile af. Why can't we just set up a grill and cook up some good shit and sell it for $2?

Two words Palmer Luckey, Trump first super donor ahead way ahead of Peter Thiel king maker, Elon Musk and others. He located his robots building robots factory next to Intels new Ohio plant being built. Reason was Intel lead on custom silicon an programmable gate arrays.

Being next to a tear one supplier speeds production of military hardware. If Intel happen to crap out it world all but kill his plans. His 5 billion dollar at first factory would be all but dead in the water. People have to remember their are only 2 companies making custom programmable gate arrays chips.

It does not need to be 3 nm just able to meet requirements. When he was considering moving some operations to Ohio Biden pushed to get Intel to move to Ohio. Biden not Trump seek to put these two together for drone warfare.

They are of strategic importance, I like this.

The country has been there a long time. Whether it be the government funding and bailouts, or even more so, the constant merry-go-round of people working at the top of private industry, and then going to head these government agencies. Such as pharma CEOs going to the FDA. Or like Lloyd Austin, a board member at Raytheon being Secretary of State. JB Pritzker being a governor, housing millions, while his family makes money off hotel chains.

Might as well at least be transparent, make it official, and show no laws are broken

More than 2 companies make FPGAs. How are you even concluding that?

Not to mention Intel sold off the majority of Altera and FPGAs aren't usually manufactured on bleeding edge processes.

Of course it would be. It's the internet.

As for the rest I disagree with your take. We are talking about them walks away with like 10's of billions in investments. That's dire.

Which of these investments are you referring to? If it's the fabs, a lot of the money hasn't been spent already, so it's not like they just lit a pile of cash on fire.

I'd personally consider losing some of the key talent they've lost worse, and the cancellation of some of their DCAI projects.

Some Sopranos shit shaking the CEO down lol

comrade Trump seizes the means of production. Time to turn that red hat into a beret

Sounds like trouble to me, having the US government owning 10% of Intel. I hope it works out well in the end, but have doubts.
