I was not paying attention to the shutdown until this week when I got an email from the DOJ in D.C. that said we will have you that check we owe you next week unless the government shuts down. I thought he was making a joke. Should have known better. Guess I am not getting paid for awhile.

My personal view is that I'm not okay with abortion being used as a matter of convenience for unintended pregnancies . . . I think that's a role that many pro-life folks see it as rather than something that could potentially be needed in a medical situation.

Choosing to have one and actually having a medical reason to have one are two different situations that should be looked at differently in my opinion.

I'm fed up with republicans blaming democrats and democrats blaming republicans.

I'm tired of single year federal appropriations and federal programs being forced to spend 100% of a FY budget in the last quarter or sometimes barely getting a budget. I've dealt with this for 23 years and it's getting old. Our programs have no incentive to save or be fiscally conservative with our funds, because if we dare try to save we could actually lose the money in the next FY's budget. There is such a huge need for multi-year budgets but for some that would mean they wouldn't have a political hammer to beat someone up with every year. It's pathetic.

I would like the United States to fix the problem with people coming in illegally before working on deal with those who are already here. There doesn't seem much of a point if we can't stop the problem from continuing on. I'm not sure a wall is the best way to do so.
