It’s remarkable how transparently this feels like a distraction from the files. The pattern is almost cliché at this point , for over a century, satire has mocked the idea of a U.S. president trying to divert attention from a personal crisis by escalating conflict abroad. Yet here we are again, watching what appears to be one of the most obvious examples of that playbook ,and people are still buying into it.
So I have a few questions:
If this escalates, will the United States take responsibility for the refugee consequences this time, or will that burden once again fall largely on the rest of the world, as it did after Iraq and Afghanistan?
And why isn’t there the same level of urgency or rhetoric toward Russia? Hundreds of thousands have been killed in Ukraine. If the argument is about protecting people from aggression, why not apply that standard consistently and focus on defending Ukrainians?
