I was been watching Yair previous fights (Including that one with Max) Yair is a different kind of fighter than Volk has faced and will catch him with something weird and unorthodox....Yair will have reach advantage and those kicks to the head and body to a short Volk!!!...I see a 3rd round KO/TKO coming......and would not be surprised if Yair won a UD....I know I am going to get toasted for posting this but man I got a bad feeling about this fight for Volk.....Am I wrong?....am I crazy??? time will tell.

It's a great fight.

Yair will need to get lucky to win. But it could definitely happen.

here is the thing...i don't think he needs to get "lucky" to win....I think Yair is talented enough to pull it off

That's not the question, though. Everyone has seen Yair's active & dynamic guard play come into its own lately. He has "improved", yes. The point in issue was that you were stating that Volk wasn't nearly as good a wrestler as Edgar and thus wouldn't be able to outwrestle Yair in the same way, but I was questioning why so many others have been able to do it -- including some even after Yair's improved guard game.

It's not a one-way street, after all. Volk is coming off one of his most grappling-heavy camps ever and has spent stupid amounts of time on the mat in the last year. Both men have been improving.

I guess what I think of wrestling as A strong suit I don't think of Volk... this is not to say he is a bad wrestler he's not ....it just not his first "go to" discipline

Not sure who wins, but I want Yair to win.

It will be more exciting for the division.

• Volk = a game, ugly troll, with not much ability to finish.
• Yair = a dynamic, exciting force, with the ability to finish in unexpected ways.

Yair Rodriguez = better for viewer entertainment and PPV buys.

and that's why .... I don't see volk finishing Yair .....therefore giving him 5 rounds to catch volk and KO/Tko him

It's probably true that Volk's not a "primary wrestler" and he is a striker first. What I'm getting at is that he has at this point shown the ability to lean on his wrestling offensively and defensively in many tough fights in the past to win rounds, whereas Yair has been taken down and controlled by guys who aren't primary wrestlers either.

In order for him to win the fight, Volk has to lose.
In order for it to be a draw, neither can win not lose.
Also, your post is wrong, If Volk gets DQ’d, Yair would receive the official win on his record without beating him.

Yair got wrestled by Max Holloway. Actually he ends up in bottom almost every fight and never gets out from under until the round ends.

Volk should be fine.

He also just subbed Emmett and Ortega from his back tho...

Yair is possibly the best kicker in MMA right now and looks like he also improved his grappling quite a bit.

Volk is definitely the favorite but I don't think it would be a big upset.
