Upcoming Public Domains

As most of us know by now, Mickey Mouse, or the Steamboat Willie version from what i read, is now public domain and can be used without getting sued by Disney. Obviously this is big because this mouse is known pretty much the world over.
When creating merch and using the now public domain, obviously don't slap the Disney name and logo on it. It did make me start to think about creating t-shirts in different styles as now i won't be hounded by the big corp that is Disney.

Also, when watching the news, they brought up an interesting point too, that Superman is only 14 years away from reaching that 100 year mark too...made me think how it will affect the whole DC empire, with people being able to start using Superman and his logo freely.
The segment also brought up a good point that Walt himself used public domains to help build his empire.

I don't recall any big well-known properties like these that have become public domain growing up...how will this affect DC when Superman and Batman are now public?

I'm glad superman will become public domain soon.

DC should have updated him like Disney did with Mickey. It could've bought them extra time.

In fact, this could be a good excuse for them to reboot Superman and take away some of his powers.

First, make him way slower. Maybe still faster than a human but he shouldn't be almost as fast as the flash.

Also take away his freeze breath, x-ray vision, super ventriloquism, and his supposed super intelligence since he doesn't use it anyway.

Then give him a refreshed costume, and viola! Copyright solid for another century.

I think it's lame. The horror movie has already been done with Winnie the Pooh, and now they're trying to do the same thing with Mickey.

They need to upset Disney in a more original way, like a porn called steamboat's willie
