Not new, but new to PC. This game has drawn some headlines raising eyebrows due to its jaw-dropping hardware demands. The "Recommended" specifications call for a whopping 32GB of system RAM. The i7-8700 / R7-2700X CPU and RTX 2070 Super / RX 6700 XT GPU are also a bit aggravating.

Square Enix still kicking. This will be the first PC game released that supports Microsoft's revolutionary DirectStorage API to decrease load times by offloading decompression of transferred data to the GPU (load times will be at least twice as fast as possible with the fastest PCIe 4.0x4 drives, and over 3x faster than the fastest PCIe 3.0x4 drives; also 50% faster than the PS5 at its best possible speed using its own Kraken decryption engine).

It is also probably the first genuine marquee release of a Playstation console exclusive where PC gamers may buy the game on launch day as Sony quietly embraces the trail blazed by Microsoft in adopting cross-platform "exclusives" as the new industry norm. All hail PC.
