Signings/Scouting Unsigned Heavyweights, v.4

This is one of the better threads I've found on here so far. Looking forward to the Minakov/Bigfoot fight as well Pavlovich/Sidelnikov fight. Sergey Pavlovich is my favorite heavyweight not in a major promotion yet. I didn't see his name yet but another heavyweight that needs to be signed is Ivan Shtyrkov. 9-0 and recently beat Bigfoot in November.

Minakov did recently say that he left Bellator because of Rebney and now that Coker was in charge he is much more willing to returning. I'd like him in the UFC but Bellator would be fun as well.

I really like pavlovich, it's time for him to join a big show already...sidelnikov is a decent hw also but Pavlovich should win...

Shtyrkov im not sold on him, his win vs monson was a big lie, his silva win was a judges gift plus he is using horse meat to his gills!

Shytrkov, to me, is one of the more 'obvious' users of certain banned substances, out there. When I look at him, I see a guy who will never pass UFC testing, and knows it - he's the kind of guy who'll build a very impressive record in Russia against journeymen and green prospects and we'll ask 'what if' he tried his hand against big names but it won't happen.

Good point.

A couple others to watch are...

Valdrin Istrefi. 11-1 with one going the distance and only 26.

Ricardo Prasel. 8-0 with 7 submissions and 1 tko. Only 26 and also 6'9.

Jared Vanderaa. 5-0 with all finishes. Only 24.

Martin Merkt. 6-0.

Carlos Felipe. 6-0.

Tai Tulvasa. 5-0. 23 years old.

I'm trying to just name guys not in the big leagues but gotta throw Tyrell Fortune out there. Only 2-0 but the guys got the size and background to be dominant.

And does anyone know what happen to Dmitriy Sosnovskiy? I thought he signed with the UFC but he hasn't fought since 2015.

Some solid guys for sure, although Tuivasa was signed by the UFC already, he's getting down to proper weight for 265 last I heard.

Merkt and Felipe I'm on the fence about though, they look decent regionally, but not sure they have the potential to be big show ready.

Felipe normally fights 205 if he's in shape, I think he may have a better chance at that weight.

Merkt needs to fight Istrefi, who has fought better competition and would show where both guys are at. They were lined up to fight awhile ago but it didn't happen unfortunately.

He had opponents drop out and he had some injuries himself, he should be fighting soon though. Keep an eye out for an announcement.

Definitely agree. I remember when they were scheduled back in 2016. Don't remember why it got scraped but disappointed none the less.

I think Ricardo Prasel is ready for a step up. Never had a fight go past the first round, he's only had 1 fight go past 3 minutes, but he hasn't had real stiff competition. Maybe sign with WSOF and see how he does there before going on to Bellator/UFC.

Carlos Felipe should drop to 205, he is 1,80cm and in proper shape he would be very near to 205, wrong weight class in my opinion but good upcoming fighter, he reminds me Smealinho Rama, same case.

Praesel only fought very low level fighters, most If not all of them amateur level, he must step up the level to evolve his game, I think he is not ready yet even for B leagues.

Prasel is pretty raw, but I like him. Guys who are real heavyweights I have a soft spot for, basically anyone who can't make 205 without chopping a limb off, and Prasel is one of those.

Since LFA showcases some up and coming guys from Brazil too, I'd like to see them grab Prasel, he'd be a good guy to have on the roster, give him a couple matches with regional US guys, then throw someone like Odoms or Coulter at him to see if he can take the next step.

That would actually make most sense with Ed Soares as the president of LFA.

I've always favored the heavyweights as well because when I did amateur MMA fighting I always fought at heavyweight. I was a smaller heavyweight though, just always liked the idea of fighting at your natural weight.

What heavyweight additions do you guys think will be in the next UFC game? Francis for sure, probably Tybura and Blaydes. If Volkov beats Roy in his upcoming fight i'm sure he'd make the roster. They need to do a better job of upgrading the heavyweight division in the next one. UFC 2's heavyweight division was to weak.

Roggers Souza 3-0 vs. Job Kleber 3-4
Nikolas Specq 1-2 vs. Karrar Hammodi 2-2
Denis Ezuta 4-7 vs. Arkadiy Lisin 3-1
Luc Ngeleka 5-2 vs. Dritan Barjamaj 12-12

this weekend's
fulton lost again last weekend, his opponent only lost to a ufc fighter in his first fight

Amir Aliakbari vs Geronimo dos Santos set for Rizin april 16th

Good match up, tough test for Amir

Solid fight, Geronimo usually gives up when he's on his back, but he can definitely KO Amir on the feet. They are properly building Amir thankfully.

I don't like this match-up.

Damn! Two high level prospects. I really think Mikhail should be sticking to 205. I'll take Pavlovich though, he's much more well rounded and his ceiling is massive, whereas I think Mikhail will probably hover around as a top 15 guy.
