Unsigned Heavyweights - Thread Three

He'll get a rematch. I think Volkov will likely fight Delija next, and Smoldarev can fight Kenny Garner for the next shot after that.

M-1 needs some new heavies though. Yosef Ali Mohammad, Masoud Ranjbar, Sergey Spivak, Adam Wieczorek, Daniil Arepyev, and Darko Stosic are all guys they can sign to contracts that would be good to build up. Maybe even do a tournament.

Why have M1 never re-signed Goltsov? He'd be a great addition and would deserve to rematch Volkov straight away. Him signing with that other org shows he would be willing to stay in Russia.

Amateur results:

Chris Lewis defeats Juan Lujan by TKO in round 1 to move to 5-0 as an amateur
Ernest James defeats Richard Taifane by submission in round 1 to move to 2-0 as an amateur
Hammer Morton defeats Dutch Warner by KO in round 1 to move to 2-0 as an amateur

Out of that batch, Ernest James has some serious potential. He's an NCAA Division 1 wrestler training out of Dethrone Base Camp in Frenso, where Koscheck and Honeycutt train.

Goltsov fought for Tech-KREP FC, if I'm not mistaken Goltsov's manager is also owner or head of this promotion.

Its him signing with ACB which surprised me. If he doesn't feel ready for the UFC, thats understandable, but wouldn't signing with M1 be a better step up in competition than ACB if he wants to stay in Russia?

I think he often trains with Volkov (and Volkov now holds an M-1 title). Plus maybe ACB have better contract (M-1 contract might be exclusive and he woulnd't be able to left for UFC/Bellator; there is only Volkov, Smoldarev and Gluhov at current M-1 roster, plus a couple of guys with 5 or less fights in mma).

This weekend:
Cheick Kongo (23-10) vs. Vinicius Queiroz (8-3)
Daniel Omielanczuk (17-5) vs. Jarjis Danho (6-0)
Lorenzo Hood (9-3) vs. Allen Crowder (5-2)
Sergey Spivak (4-0) vs. Artem Cherkov (1-3)

Christian Colombo pulls out of the fight with Amir Aliakbari.
Now a Senegalese fighter "Pepe Senegal" will fight with Aliakbari at REAL HW tournament semi final.

Interested to see Danho fight. Ufc usually likes their HWs more seasoned so they must of saw something in him.

That being said this fight is a huge step up in competition.

Yup. Daniel omakdja is one of the worst guys on the roster tho imo. Losing a decision to anthony hamilton aint a good sign and the two guys he beat are either out of the ufc or prolly will be soon. Chris de la rocha or whatever his name is was signed with way too little experience.

I actually fancy Danho to win that one. Omielanczuk has not impressed me in the slightest so far. I liek either Danho early or Omielanczuk in a snoozer decision.

Had no idea Spivak was fighting this weekend. Interesting. Just wish he had a better opponent.

Feels bad man.

Not impressed by Danho. I guess that's why there wasn't much hype around him

Any update on Sosnovskiy?
Maybe he is waiting his contracts with Bellator expire?

I think in January Oliynyk posted on social media that he and Sosnovkiy returned to training after injuries. If I'm not mistaken Sosnovskiy's contract with Bellator inspired back in 2015 (or this was what Oliynyk said in an interview).

He's still on the Bellator roster, so who knows. Bellator usually doesn't remove guys until they are for sure done. I'm guessing it will be another Ruslan Magomedov situation where he never fights for Bellator then as soon as he's 100% clear the UFC will pick him up.

Edit: It looks like he was signed in May 2014, and most Bellator contracts are 2 years, so he'll probably be 100% free in May/June if I had to guess.

Also as a side note, Sergey Spivak defeats Artem Cherkov by TKO to move to 5-0. I do like that Spivak is taking his time to build up, he's the youngest prospect out there at HW, so he can go 10-0 if he fights regularly before getting the call up.

Yea saw this as well. Really excited to see Olenik back.

Somehow he even got an exciting fought out of Jared Rosholt

Danho looked poor. He could have carried on but he wanted out of that fight.

Here http://www.bloodandsweat.ru/2015/09/aleksej-olejnik-brosat-vystupat-poka-ne-planiruyu/ Oliynyk said that Sosnovskiy gonna fight in November of 2015 in Bellator and this will be last fight on his contract.
Also, Kharitonov said that soon Bellator gonna decide who will be his first opponent. He also said that his fight with Minakov gonna happen but no date yet and he don't know where this fight gonna happen (in Russia or in the US). And he said that he refused to sign with the Bellator because of Volkov (they are friends). Now Volkov in M-1 and Kharitonov said that Bellator belt is his goal.
