Crime United States - 45,000 gun deaths every year

1) Throughout American history we have had guns in our homes. The failure of the family unit and removal of that "toxic masculinity" directly contributed to the delinquency of our kids.

In the same way you think we will never improve families and morals i believe we will never remove guns from our society.

I think much of your argument centers around the safety vs liberty choice that our founding fathers settled.

2) Gun deaths among children. Drowning deaths among children. Automobile deaths among children. Let's not cherry pick our outrage.

You can reduce the likelihood of death in damn near every statistic with education and a positive role model. I teach my son gun safety. I teach him how to swim. I will eventually teach him automobile safety.

Me. I DO THAT. That is a father's job. My toxic masculinity is a positive force.
LOL! Whenever someone throws out the founding fathers as an excuse to hug their guns I know that they really haven't thought it through.

If the founding father were here today you know what they would say? "Why the fuck are women and black people allowed in the same room as me?"

What do you think the founding fathers would say if you asked them: "Would it be okay that after a few generations the decedents of your slaves can buy whatever kind of gun they want?"

I would disagree about gun control laws, they have shown the be affective.

What do you say about guns being the biggest killer of children in the US? Drowning deaths among children concern me also even though there are only around 900. About 2,500 children are killed each year with a gun. You want to teach four year olds gun safety?

You wrote: "The failure of the family unit and removal of that "toxic masculinity" directly contributed to the delinquency of our kids." Show me one study that says removing toxic masculinity is bad for kids? I would suggest toxic masculinity is bad for kids. Wait, you have kids and you consider yourself to display toxic masculinity. How has it worked out for your children? Did they attend good universities or are on track to?

Have you ever wondered why you are obsessed with your guns? Does it seem psychologically healthy to you?

These guys don't actually care what the Founding Fathers stated anyway.

Separation of Church and State? Let's overlook that shit!
An actual Republic? Let's consider Donny making himself King/third term!
Power for the People? Nah.

The SCOTUS thought it through quite a bit.

By your line of thinking the entire Bill of Rights should be scrapped. B'cuz they owned slaves! That's how " I know you really haven't thought it through "

What do you think the founding fathers would say if you asked them: "Would it be okay that after a few generations the decedents of your slaves can buy whatever kind of gun they want?"

I think only a fraction if the founding fathers owned slaves so I think it'd be okay.

Yes. I did teach my 4 year old gun safety. I keep guns in my home and on my person. I would say you are both ignorant and careless if you do not teach them gun safety.

Did you conflate gun safety and learning to shoot?

Youd have to meet my 8 year old and see for yourself. You will find a respectful, kind, responsible boy learning how to be a man.

I question your definition of "toxic" the way I question these ditzy Podcaster girls. They can't definite it but know what it is when they see it.

I am the provider, the protector and the leader of my family unit.

Have you ever wondered why you are obsessed with your guns? Does it seem psychologically healthy to you?

Am I obsessed? I learned gun safety from my dad. I own a lot of guns. I like to shoot guns. I was in the military that allowed me to shoot a lot of guns. I would say I am obsessed with the idea of freedom, liberty, and the retaining the blessings our forefathers bestowed us.

Personally, I see an irrational fear of weapons as much more troubling. I find people like thart quite averse to things like personal responsibility and accountability.

It's not fear, it's the fact that 47,000 people in the country die from guns in just one year. That guns are the leading cause of death in children the country. Just like how I'm not afraid of meth but I don't want people to have access to it. Can you see how that's not fear?

I look at the number of deaths in just one year and am horrified while guys like you look at the number of deaths and want to start talking about the founding fathers and kids in single parent homes. These are the chosen deflection of the toxic American male.

Do you think the founding fathers "blessed us" with unfettered access to guns? Like guns are a blessing? With all the killings and death you want to imply guns are a blessing?

1. You can always buy a bullpup like the X95. 16.5" barrel and only 26.1" OAL.
2. I've been tempted to buy an M16A1 receiver as an investment but knowing my luck machine guns would be removed from the NFA as soon as I did.

Bullpups are so ugly and weird to reload.

How much does one of those go for now days . Supreme Court probably has your back for at least a minute

M16A1 is around $30k.
There's also forced reset triggers. Not full auto but closer.

I thought the atf said no more to those or put a hold on those til they could decide or something. I don't know anything anymore though dude I could totally be mistaken. Having a toddler has absolutely destroyed my iq and my memory.

Nope, Biden's FRT ban was struck down in the courts last summer after SCOTUS struck down Trump's bump stock ban.

What you need is an 8" SBR in 300 BO with a .30 cal suppressor and an FRT.

You want to throw money away? Brrrrrrrt brrrrrrt. There goes thirty bucks. Mag change. Brrrrrrrt brrrrrrt. Another 30 bucks.

Here is a Q for you:

If Americans have historically had greater access to guns in our past, but lower instances of suicide is it possible that our "gun problem" might actually be a "people problem?"

So suicide is always a people problem, it's largely a socially communicated disease. This is just my theory, but I think it matches the data: I think it relates to brain architecture that allows for a 'good death'. An evolved mechanism that allows for members of the tribe/family to sacrifice themselves for others benefit. Now what is considered a good death is a response to circumstance so it can change and is decided culturally.

Importantly this is a layer of evolved behaviour that precedes logical thoughts, it's not a result of reason as we imagine it, it's the result of the behavioural system from which reason emerges.

So we can remove the method and it short circuits it.

We can also change information going in to the system, by for example never reporting a mass shooting or suicide.

Both are intractable problems.

You're not wrong.. however, if you reduce the suicide rate in general, the need to remove methods of suicide goes way down.

As someone else pointed out. The percentage of households with guns in the US is the lowest it's ever been, while the suicide rate is the highest it's ever been.

How about we instead focus on why people are suffering? instead of trying to remove one of their methods to end it.

Well, we can do both, what you suggest is a false dichotomy.

Personally I think gun ownership should be tough and involve licences and community service. And be limited to certain types etc. Probably age restricted past 25 also.

I would recommend mass shootings not be reported widely. That suicide not being reported widely,

I'd suggest creating a society where income disparity is minimal and wealth disparities are minimal. By lifting people up rather than limiting people's ability. Where community service is rewarded the highest.

I'd remove processed foods and mandate screen time be limited for minors unless it's educational content, with a social media ban. I'd produce free government housing and ensure only one parent needs to work, giving tax breaks to people who are the main carer, 25% tax breaks for each kid. Exponential tax to eliminate earnings over a certain amount, with tax breaks for social and cultural goods done. Free healthcare, education, a welfare system where people are comfortable if unemployed.

I think this would reduce the suicide rate.

Its called masculinity adding toxic is just a form of gaslighting from the guy that wanted to argue spanking kids leads to school shooters.

So your logic is that because some (about half) of the founding fathers were wrong about slavery every other stance they took should be ignored?

Wow, that's some claim. So all the groundbreaking progress brought forth by the US constitution and the bill of rights was just a happy accident, and not the work of very smart young men?

Ah no. There is ample evidence that the FF didn't think blacks and women should have the same rights as us white guys. Didn't matter if they were slave owners or not, they didn't think blacks were their equal.

So the FF did put forth a solid document to lay the foundation for the republic but that was 250 years ago. Times change and people progress, society moves forward along with technology. These founding document have been altered over the last 250 years to reflect changes in society for things like giving women the right to vote and abolishing slavery.

Do you regret these changes because the FF might not approve?

Stop with this ammosexual nonsense it makes you impossible to take seriously

You notice I'm the last person left who's willing to try to have a civil discussion about this with ya ?

A couple things . I'm going to write you a proper response to yours from the other day later when I have an actual minute to sit and think so you can look forward to that.

And contrary to what you think we look at that death number and we think it's a bad thing too it's just that we think the cure is entirely different than you.

To you it's as simple as guns are bad so we should ban them ...to me at least it's more of how can we make society a better place without taking anyone's rights away.

You could learn to be a bit more charitable to those you disagree with and perhaps have a more productive discussion. I'm not your enemy and I don't call you cutesy names like toxic or ammosexual .

No, they give up in embarrassment. It's hard to justify your hobby when it's the biggest killer of children in the country. I'd be ashamed too.

I was being nice to you and not referring to American gun culture as toxic, rather I was calling it unhealthy just so you would feel more comfortable. I threw ammosexual at the poster because he implied I took a position which I have never taken. He was lying about me.

I certainly think there is a lot more society could and should be doing to improve with the unhealthy areas including more help for children, families, schools and healthcare. But I would add reasonable gun laws to the todo list.

You see, this better describes the difference of opinion between you and me: You look at the gun violence numbers and propose actions to improve the family unit but draw the line at actually gun control. I look at the gun violence numbers and want to propose actions to improve the family unity AND would advocate for gun control. Of course both actions would help. You only want to propose actions that fit your agenda. Your unfettered access to guns is more important to you than laws that would save children's lives. Can't let a few dying children interfere with my hobby.

You guys think you need a 100 round mag to sleep well at night. That's really unhealthy. I don't know what y'all are so afraid of.

Biggest killer of children. Please link to this and including the age of the "children" because i think that's what's missing in this statement.

Guy who "fled" the mainland USA to Hawaii accuses others of being paranoid/scared. You can't make this up.

Yes, guns are the biggest killer of children in the US.

Hey Shadow, do you agree that meth should be regulated?
