Crime United Healthcare CEO assassinated in NYC

The healthcare system is flawed and we are all getting screwed. But you can't go around murdering people to air your grievances. Luigi deserves life in prison. RIP CEO.

I don't think that's it at all tbh. Certainly Reddit was celebrating the death before they had any idea what anyone looked like.
wrong. we had semi-pictures immediately. you could tell what the guy looked like.

No, that photo was released on the 6th (GMT +9.5). People were celebrating online before that when there was just the security footage. Couldn't really make out anything identifiable in the security footage.
Point is they'd probably be celebrating less now if he'd be some fat old dude.

Correct. Footage of the actual shooting showed only a guy in a hoody, from the back. Still pictures later showed the shooter's face, but with a mask covering everything but his eyes.

People were rooting for this guy before his face was shown.

Sure, if he was grotesque he'd be less heroized.
Although I thought it funny that even when the news was being critical of the reactions, they were still using shirtless photos of the guy from before he screwed up his back.
Pretty obvious when they got word from above and started using mostly his piss soaked arrest photos and shots of the back of his head.

it's for clicks for sure. someone online was wondering why, compared to others, they are showing so much of the guy. well duh, cause he sells?
netflix is probably already planning a series about him.

Timothy blew up a building, killing 169 people. 19 of those were children.

Comparing him to the CEO shooter is fucking laughable.

Right, because that's exactly the comparison I was making.

There's been plenty of people who have gotten such a public perp walk. Mangione shouldn't be any different, especially given the high profile nature of the crime and the enormous public support for him. Why shouldn't these officers be armored up? Is it not possible some whack job would try to free Mangione using violence? Even at the very least, it's a show of force. Mangione made an example out of that CEO, so now he's getting made an example of. It's happened a thousand times before.
Sure, suspects are made to do a perp walk once or twice but it seems like this kid is paraded out every day. Also, if they were worried about it being a dangerous situation then there are far less public ways to transport inmates. These photo ops are orchestrated events with full media galleries.

If there was concerns about it being dangerous they would not have the media galleries, the mayor present and all the other BS.

Can you name anyone else made to do this many public appearances with this much security? I don't recall even Timothy McVeigh getting this number of Hollywood style presentation.

if a healthcare executive got murdered the people who are happy about it would still have been happy about it.

Who cares? Make an example out of him. He's been made into a hero online and the real heroes want to show any potential copycat that consequences are real. This is such a strange thing for anybody to be concerned about.

Sounds like the embattled mayor's doing. I think he's trying to defend himself from corruption charges by virtue signalling with this tool because that's all he's got.

The info about what was written on the bullet casings came out almost immediately as well. That's when the support really exploded because the motive was clearly against insurance companies.

Impressive how this comes down to looks. If Luigi was the one killed by the fat guy this story would have been all about a young life taken too soon.

That's nonsense. No one knew what Luigi looked like first of all. We were all celebrating that a $10 million a year CEO of a murderous industry got his just desserts. The Luigi six pack mania came way after that.

I can check out early anytime. The idea that it’s an option is a constant reassurance. My life has tremendous meaning without a sky daddy looming over and judging me.
You said none of this matters, but now you say it does. Which is it?
