Umar vs Figueredo odds are CRAZY.

Umar is definitely one of the bigger 135ers, he's just not the tallest. Considerably larger than Figgy. Definitely broader and thicker than Bautista was by a noticeable amount, maybe an inch shorter. Noticeably bigger than Merab too.

Guys like Omalley and Sandhagen aren't the epitome of "big for their division" and "size advantage" there's a reason that skinny guys built like rails are not usually champions yet everyone calls it a "size advantage".

Montel Jackson and Lok Dog are huge, ironically Figgy just beat Jackson.
I just think it was night and day difference how comfortable Figgy is standing. Marlon Vera is 5'8, similar reach and that fight it just looked like Figgy couldn't find his rhythm getting inside. Guess that was sort of his style to pick shots in the later Moreno fights.

But he used to be like a FLW Chuck Liddell hopping inside the pocket and launching bombs. When I watch, it just reminds me of how when I box taller guys, just like hesitating until perfect moments come. He did do pretty well against Vera to be fair. He just seems way more confident when he has the reach and size, seems like digs deep to pull out bag of tricks to win at BW.

Are they expecting a ton of money on Umar? Is it just blatant disrespect to Fig? Why does this fight have the widest odds in UFC history? Certainly there have been much more lopsided fights. It's not even the biggest squash mash on THIS card. They found another can for that Gautier guy to smash and he's only -1100.

I'm not expecting Fig to win, but these are the craziest odds I've ever seen.

According to a quick search I did, the opening odds of the fight were Umar -800 and Figgy +400. I don't know how correct that info is, but sounds about right to me. I'm guessing the lines have been open for a while, so what we see is bettors voting with their wallets.

Figgy can crack.

his odds should never really be that bad, but if this isn't one of the worst match ups for him possible I dont know what else. 100% give him his title shot that he already should have had if he wins this.

Figueredo is and always has been massively overrated. Terribly inconsistent and very mid level fighter in almost every area.

Are those initial lines dropped by the bookie? Or are those odds developing as a result of the bets already coming in?

This fight has Fig returning from the knee injury Sandhagen gave him, so that might weigh against him in the odds

Prime Fig was a savage, one of the hardest hitting flyweights and an elite grappler who got his first two title wins by sub

Moreno got the better of him in the great 4-fight rivalry and he's going downhill now, but in his prime he was up there P4P, and had a win over Pantoja

Of course Umar is rightfully the strong favourite, but +850 for Figgy seems like rather good value.

weird I expected like -200 or - 300. Figuedo did well vs Yan, lost every round, but didn´t get dominated one secod.

We’d all dump money on Umar if the line was -200 to -300 and the line would adjust.

Figgy is good enough to be competitive against elite BW like Yan/Sandhagen, but he’s got a super narrow part to victory against a anothef elite opponent that stylistically is a terrible matchup for him (outfighting point fighter/wrestler with lockdown control positions).

If Figgy wins it completely derails Umar & will win whoever bets on him a ton of money lol

I guess anything can happen (see Van vs Pantoja).

If they fight it out without any flukes happening I really see Umar ”taking Figgy to school” on pretty much every aspect. Striking, especially kicks and range control, wrestling, scrambles… I guess if Figgy could land clean he has the power advantage, but I doubt he gets to land ”a hbomb” on Umar.

Weird odds, but you kinds get it.

"already should have had" When was Figgy supposed to get a BW title shot? Right now, off a win over Montel Jackson after losing to Yan & Sandhagen?

Came up as 2 time flyweight champ, beat #8 Font, fought unranked Cody next which wasn't helpful but was settling prior booking when Cody was supposed to challenge him for the belt at Fly, then beat #4 Vera. Extremely slow played for a champ.

Meanwhile, Umar (who got ranked after 2 fights in the division and even made it into the top 10, despite not ever fighting a ranked opponent) gets to fight his first ever ranked opponent from the #10 spot against #2 Sandhagen and that's enough for the shot. His first ever ranked match was a title eliminator. Fig instead had to fight Yan

Shows the difference being a recent multi time champ gets you, vs what having the last name Nurmagedov gets you

He was game as hell in the Yan fight, but looked horrible against Sandhagen.

I saw he won his last fight but havent seen it.

Some truth to that regarding Umar sure but he is a guy the UFC had incentive to push as far as trying to build future stars. Umar probably shouldn't have got the Sandhagen fight in a perfect world but apparently he was ducked by a few ranked opponents and when the time came he beat Sandhagen when they got in the cage together.

Figgy is a guy that at this point the UFC wants to use to build future stars. He was 35 by the time he moved up to bantamweight & as proven in his losses he isn't going anywhere at the elite level. Also none of his wins were enough to stamp his claim to a title shot, he was given that opportunity vs Yan and he didn't pass the test.

When it was ripped from him and givin to umar, nepobaby title shot

Ahh I see, Figgy should've got a title shot off of a 29-28 win over Marlon Vera. Rather than Umar defeating the #2 ranked BW. Makes sense.

Yes,. It does make perfect sense as he's a former defending champion who moved up and had won 3 fights in a row at a higher weight class while he also beat the most recent title challenger it was actually the only thing that makes sense at all from a merit perspective.
