Media Umar broke his hand after round 1

Remember when Rich Franklin kicked the shit out of the Crow with a broken hand?

He needs some milk!
<28>

Of course a broken arm hindered his performance and added to fatigue.

Conditioning one's body is a part of fight preparation. Especially today, when a camp is done by a team of professionals including doctors. Bone density can be adressed via medicine and correction of diet.

I hope he heals well and gets back into the mix.

ok, but that doesn't explain why he gassed badly after rd 2. unless his hand bone is connected to his lung bone? lmao

Came to say this. Broken hands don’t affect cardio

If Khabib broke his hand in a fight would he gas and get thrown all over the cage? Nope

It's equally as ridiculous to imply Merab threw anyone around the octagon, he out worked a gassed guy with no threat of ever finishing, its a big win, but no one got dominated.

And Ramon Dekkers beat Duane Ludwig ( with a knockdown in every round ) with a single arm because of a torn bicep. Obviously apples and oranges but doesn't take away from the fact that Umar was making excuses.

That's what Merab does, and if this kid couldn't solve it...the only thing that will is Father Time. Umar being a "gassed guy" isn't some random occurance. It's Merab weaponizing cardio like nobody in the sport has ever done. Took a younger, elitely talented Dagestani kid from a lineage and camp known for good cardio and drowned him after 10-15 minutes of pace. So sure, you can say "threw him around the cage" is hyperbole...but the optics are what they are. We all saw one guy who looked better and better as the fight went on who mostly did what he wanted to the other guy who looked like he didn't want to be there after the halfway point.

Some fans probably don't like Merab's lack of caring about trying to finish. I like seeing subs and KO's too, and guys who hunt them. But I also can appreciate how Merab is 1 of 1 and admire how he can use cardio and pace to seemingly melt anyone.

If it were any other fighter people would be defending Umar. When people don't like fighters they conveniently ignore clear injuries, like Khamzat after 1st round Usman, people still ignore that injury and think Khamzat has 1 round cardio.

Umar did more damage then gassed. Merab out worked him rd 3 and 4. Rd 5 was tight. It was a close fight and we should be talking about the brilliance of it all instead of childish bickering.

The Merab haters and Umar fanboys are so riled up I love it.

Don't want to take away from Merab's win but that hand looks horrible. Also Umar was doing pretty good in the 1st round.
