Pretty shameful. Even their liberal readers pwned them.

Jordan Peterson is VERY dangerous to liberals.

Him and Ben Shapiro are IMO the Fat Man and Little Boy in the war against ultra liberals.

By "liberals" I am assume you mean far left ideologues, although granted some of that ideology is making it into the main stream. And yes I don't imagine they like getting their lies exposed. That would be rather embarrassing.

The testimonials from individuals who have left Peterson's cult really articulate what's going on here. Probably better than someone who was never in it.

I first discovered JBP maybe a year and a half ago - a few months after a breakup that I was not equipped to deal with at all. I had just started my first year of university. I don't like to self-diagnose, but judging by the symptoms I probably had depression for over a year before this.

Of course, the breakup made things worse and I was in a really bad place - shut myself away from potential new friends, didn't go to classes, slept all the time, suicidal thoughts, etc.

One day I randomly found a video of JBP on YouTube, a stupid video where he "owns" some gender non-binary people at a free speech rally or something. After watching that, I started to watch his other videos, where he would talk about a lot of problems I was currently experiencing, and supposedly he had the solutions.

Obviously, looking back at it now, it was typical boilerplate 'self-help guru' advice, but at the time it really spoke to me. I suddenly had this motivation to make my life better and to get myself out of this rut.

After convincing myself that only JBP could give such positive and meaningful advice, I quickly concluded that everything he says must be correct. That made sense to me because it seemed like his 'self help' advice was derived from his work on religion, philosophy, psychology, etc. If he's able to give such amazing advice then surely he's right about this other stuff!

Here's a comment I made about 9 months ago perfectly summarising this delusion

Looking back on it now, it definitely seems like I had a cult-like mentality towards JBP. Every time he'd say something that I didn't agree with (usually about politics since I've always been a left-leaning person), I'd find some way to rationalise to myself why he was right. I told myself everything he says must be right since he always says how "careful" he is with his words, so surely he has evidence to back up all of his claims. I'm just an 18 year old STEM student, who am I to dispute his claims about religion, politics, etc.?

Another funny thing I just found is this comment I made 10 months ago:

It's interesting. Peterson and Harris both seem to have a number of cult-like followers. I suppose it makes sense since the things they say can be life changing for some people. I'd imagine it's easy to not want to challenge someone who has had such a profound effect on your life.

Apparently I was aware of this phenomenon, but didn't have the self-awareness to realise that I was also one of those people. Scary.

Anyway, I gradually became less interested in JBP as I realised that there was nothing special about his advice, I had deeper problems that weren't going to go away (initially I had hoped that they would, since JBP's advice was so DEEP and MEANINGFUL). I started to look at some of the ridiculous things he says objectively and realised he's a bit of a lunatic when it comes to many topics. I also started to actually listen to opposing points of view, instead of just dismissing every critic as someone who "just doesn't get" JBP's ideas, and if they actually listened to him, they'd definitely love him.

Pretty sure this was unnecessarily long and very incoherent, but hopefully it'll be insightful to some people. If you're reading this and feel like you're in a similar situation that I was in, I encourage you to reflect on yourself, and to seek out real help.

as superficial as it is -- i simply cant take people who dont brush their teeth or go to the dentist seriously.

anyone want to coles note that video for the rest of us?

Calling JBP a cult is just name-calling to try and discredit him.

How about people actually try and defeat his ideas using facts and reason?

They call Molyneaux a cult too. Just a bunch of commies projecting.

That guy was just name calling?

Ok. Here's a little example. Just a sample...JP advocates for being your own instrument, not that of someone else. Right? Why does he oppose gay marriage? Is he brave enough to really state why? Nope!

Instead we get claims that his opposition to it lies in the fact that it's what the "Marxists" want. Except...that's letting his actions be determined by someone else, isn't it? He's just creating a left-wing boogeyman, to give his claim a front. So he won't be a generic homophobic conservative. It's all b.s.

Molyneux's disassociating from your family of origin (DeFOO), is out of the Scientology suppressive person (SP) playbook. It doesn't involve commies.

TBF, Stefan Molyneux's "defoo" advocacy was years ago ... he is much more committed to philosophy and politics now. Even his ideas of Anarcho-capitalism have changed with new evidence that has come to light.

Stefan is not afraid to admit when he is wrong and is a true philosopher. He pursues the truth more than most commentators.

Left wing boogeymen are real

If Hillary had won the election ... AMERICA would be FINISHED. KAPUT, GONE.

Look at the deaths caused by Marxism in 20th century. Look at the real affect of third wave feminism on masculinity and peoples' happiness in general.

IMO, Trump scrapping TPP alone, saved America.

If Hilary had won, TPP would have been implemented, Syrian immigration and immigration from the south would have gone into overdrive ... America as we know it would have been changed forever. Demographics is destiny.

When one admits their argument against something is "unnecessarily long" and "very incoherent", it doesn't lend it any favors. With people like Peterson, there will always be sycophants who will fawn over every single word; but that hardly speaks for the majority and it does nothing to address his arguments. In other words, it just seems like a pointless criticism.

To me, it's just wishful thinking. They WANT to find fault with him, so they try to latch on obscure tidbits to try and discredit him.

"I feel like he might be a cult leader, therefore he is bad" ... is not an argument.

What I like the most about Molyneux and Peterson is that they are not afraid to admit when they are wrong and change their views when new evidence comes to light. That's the spirit of a true philosopher. Unlike the left with their idealogues.

Hillary wanted to emulate Merkel. Bernie wanted to emulate Chavez.

Democrats want to destroy America and they're not even hiding it.

That's the spirit of a rational human being.

That's the spirit of a rational human being.

A lot of humans, I would say most from my experience, find it very hard to admit when they are wrong.

Molyneux put it very well in one of his videos. Something like this:

"It's like a young man in New York, and you give him a map of Chicago in order for him to find his way around the city, for years and decades he is using the wrong map and getting lost and confused ... if after 20 years, you go up to him and say "ha! Buddy,That's the wrong map, here's the real map!" .... it's very hard, bitter pill to swallow that they have been looking at the wrong map their whole life". Some people don't want to wake up because they are attached to their beliefs."

In my personal life, I've had to swallow some bitter pills and it hurts ... but I'm not scared.

Those who think they know everything will never learn anything.

I've always found it edifying to admit when I'm wrong. It's like a level-up.

Can't handle altercation with two year olds?
Are you kidding? What he did was handle it. When someone is stepping on your daughters fingers when she's two years old and hanging on the monkey bars, with a look in their eye like "fuck you", your pissed and are going to do something unless you're a beta idiot.

He's right that his parents set him up for a hopeless future. When my daughter was 2 I made sure some little punk like that was nowhere around and if I had a kid doing that shit I would have spanked his ass big time on the spot. Bunch of safe space punks is what we have nowadays.
