I'm Gen X, so these are the 2 biggest for me.

Cher was the first one to do it, and it was groundbreaking, but that sound was really popularized by T Pain and Little Wayne as far as i remember. It still isnt found much in pop music. I agree it is pretty annoying, the novelty wore off pretty quick. Back in the 2000's Jay-Z declared "the death of auto-tune" but nowadays it seems to be more popular than ever , especially in genres like soundcloud rap.
