Ugliest supercar?

I'm in the camp that thinks Hypercars aren't right for this topic, as by nature they are rarely "beautiful" at all, IMO.

Keeping with cars I've seen in person (as photos dont always capture the beauty, see: E-Type), my pick is the Mondial.

They all are for the most part. Pagani's entire ethos is to be as ostentatious as possible. It's like a luxury watch with a grand complication that wows other car nerds due to its immaculate construction. But they can be toned down depending on color.

But why would anyone get a black supercar? It completely hides the lines and details. My friend's wife used to own the first gen v10 R8 and that is one hell of a car. Unfortunately, she got it in black and it looked homely and nondescript (for a supercar anyway). They have since sold it and now own a Golf R and a Tiguan.

Koenigseggs are just about the simplest shape you can build a sportscar. Just a wedge. They are visually not flashy at all.

In terms of flashiness and attention, something like the BMW i8 probably outshines these to the unaware. But then again, my dream car is a Lizard Green GT3RS.

Maybe I am getting too old to appreciate popsicle colored cars...

The only R8 I would buy in term of color is black or silver. I plan to drive it regularly and seeing guys drive around Toronto in funky colored cars makes me chuckle.

It's not that I don't appreciate how wild they look, I just know from experience that I would get sick of the color mighty fast. On top of that, the R8 really doesn't have a lot of color options. I don't like them in red for some reason (maybe its the red Audi uses), the silver and black in my opinion look great. I've never seen a blue one (although I did see a yellow one a couple of weeks ago) and I'd rather take a punch to the head than own a white car.

The only car I can actually say I like in green is the Huracan but I can actually afford an R8 (with the same engine and platform) while the Huracan's are wildly overpriced.

Plus all the camo trim and alcantara in the interiors is pretty nasty. The new EVO, you can actually order an interior without alcantara.

And when did plush velour become a thing on interior car surfaces? Ugh... I'll take good quality leather every time.

Besides the black R8 will line up nicely beside my black F-Pace SVR :)

The great thing about the R8 is they can be a practical winter car in Canada as long as theres clearance. Did you consider the 911 Turbo too? That flies even lower under the radar than an R8 if you want a lowkey sports car.
Try the factory?
pagani_temperidis-00412-e1520009564509.jpg

Their factory is tiny and they only work on a handful of cars at a time because it's all handbuilt. Dat bespoke craftsmanship...

I would classify that as "not attractive" rather than outright ugly. It'd actually look decent if it was any other badge.

And I would argue that most hypercars are attractive. It's just that the poorly designed ones are extremely gaudy and loud. But look at the holy trinity-

These are all instant classics.

Attractive? Sure. But not what I'd call beautiful.

However, that is of course going to depend on how beauty is defined. The appearance of a hypercar is dictated by the functionality of it. When shaping the car, driveline packaging, aero, crash structures and design rules (as with all modern vehicles) all take a priority over pure aesthetics.

It's probably obvious by now, but for my eyes, the most beautiful cars all come from the past.

Although having said all that, the following is also true:

“Race cars are neither beautiful nor ugly. They become beautiful when they win.”

Most Lambos are fugly as hell. On the other end Königsegg build some beauties.

That things pretty fuggin cool IMO.
I’d paint it satin black and put a bat sign on the roof :)

Our car (Peugeot 5008 GT) is Mat Black with a giant shiny black bat symbol (only the batwing not the yellow around it) on the hood :)

I've owned a couple of 911's over the years. Not a huge fan of them any longer had some serious issues with my last one. That said you pretty much have to get into GT3RS territory to match V10 R8 performance and they are vastly overpriced currently.

Plus Toronto is littered with 911's and no one can tell the difference between a 10 year old base model and a top performance model.

I test drove an nsx last week as well and damn they drive nice. Plus the incentives on new ones are crazy as they are not selling

Yeah but you were saying you didn't like flashy cars that drew attention. What gen was the model you had issues with?

And the 911 Turbos are quite a bit quicker than the V10 R8. They can break under 3 seconds 0-60 while the R8 hovers right above that.

The NSX seems really underrated and underappreciated. Their prices will probably drop even more once the C8 comes out.

My vote goes to the Bugatti Veyron.

I never liked that far body style the car had. It also was overrated as shit.

But the new Bugatti Divo, tho...

Yeah, thats sexy. The regular Chiron looks great too.

look how much nicer that rear end is compared to the Veyron's bubblebutt.

I'm not a fan of flashy but its still nice to have a nice looking car and when you sit at a red light and there are 3 911's, a cayman and a panamerica along with a couple of their suv's at the same intersection, its a bit silly.

Toronto has an overabundance of porsche, mercedes, BMW and regular audi vehicles.

Thats part of why I bought the Jaguar this year. There simply aren't a lot of them on the road.

I had a 2013 911 Carrera S that had no end of engine issues. Went back 5 times in the first year and a half. They could never quite figure out what the issue was. I almost got enough shop time to qualify for lemon law but ultimately sold it with almost no mileage (and took a loss). I also had a 911 back in the early 90's.

I just don’t care for sharp lines in general. That’s seemed to be the defining trait for a while. Can’t get into it.
I do, however, appreciate the ridiculous engineering and performance.

Yeah, that's ugly.

But this is not. Aspark owl has sexy curves, and it seems to be the consensus that it's a great looking car.
something looks really off with the Owl for me. I like the overall design but the it looks like the visibility would be absolute shit. might just be the angle but it looks way too long too which would be horrible for maneuvering

What do you think is the ugliest supercar? My vote is for the horrendously overstyled Lamborghini Veneno, whose price tag of 4 million dollars exacerbates its offensiveness.

This thing is uglier than the Aztek and I can't believe grown men with design degrees came up with this.

I also think the Veyron is one of the ugliest cars in recent memory. It was a landmark engineering achievement at the time so I am a bit more forgiving of its hideous features.

Its successor, the Chiron, addressed some of the grotesque faults of this car and is actually quite handsome.

And while not as ugly as the previous two examples, the Ferrari F50 deserves a mention here. Mostly because it's one of the holy grail Ferraris and followed the timeless beauty of the F40. Yet it still stands out as one of the ugliest Ferraris in history.

So what are your choices for ugliest supercar? Please limit your choices to actual production road-legal cars, not concept cars or track-only cars.

Pontiac Fiero. They got kits to make it into a supercar for like 5k. Chicks dont know about cars. Redneck Supercar.

Yeah, I thought I'd throw the Aspark in to see what people thought; truth be told I'm in two minds about it. In matt black it looks like a Batmobile concept (i.e. cool as fuck), but as someone said earlier I'm not sure you could see out of the thing, also it looks like it has next to no ground clearance, and any road car which is wider than an Aventador is a bit daft (particularly where I live).
It smacks of something that's been built specifically to set new acceleration benchmarks (fuck the compromises) but I guess we'll see.
