UFC's best days are long gone

The UFC needs to evolve just as the sport of MMA has. You can't use a scoring system that is half a century old and designed for another sport, its nonsense.

They dont want to build stars because 1) you gotta pay 2) they get egos [aka tito, shamrock] 3) they want to be in charge.

The whole system is a mess. I understand Zuffa's decisions individually, but as every detail becomes more regulated its just not fun as a whole.

Whatever though, Im sure someone will buy if, just not me...and I havent for a while.

I prefer real fights with entertainment over highly skilled bullshit fights. Stupid, i know.

If the UFC cuts fighters after winning because it was boring then it's no longer a sport and more entertainment like professional wrestling. That is the problem.

Yeah and we're OK with that because its not a sport anyway. Who the hell could possibly take this joke seriously with things like the UFC hof and fake rankings, only popular guy gets a title shot, or a guy thats 2-1 with a title shot etc. Its a fuckin joke but entertaining at times as it should be.

You say that, but prior to UFC 174, the last FN had 5/6 finishes on the main card, and before that, UFC 173 had 4/5 finishes on the main card. Both main events were finished. That's why I can't take these criticisms seriously. Everything said is exaggerated, and in some cases, completely wrong. It's like you are just parroting something you read on this forum.

To say it is more ubiquitous than before is not to say finishes don't happen, just that they are less frequent. In addition, I do not believe that simply because a fight has a finish it was a good fight, nor obversely that what is a decision is a bad one. What I describe as a safe band of point fighting is something that pertains to a great deal of the fights that goes to decision. I am not saying there's anything wrong with the number of finishes, nor with those fights, though I could do that too.

Also, you seem the one who has a selective memory, though again number of decisions was never my point. Browne vs. Werdum a decision fest. Machida-Mousassi was too, as was Barao vs. Faber. Also 3/4 of UFC on FOX 10 were decisions. 8/12 in the previous card.

It would certainly help to move back to say 8 PPV's a year.

If the UFC want to carry on running PPV's more than once a month then I think they both need to look at improving the rules/judging AND being much more proactive in getting talented MA's from other sports to shift to MMA.

The second issue is IMHO really going to come to the fore strongly in the next few years I'd say as the UFC no longer as as many rival orgs to buy out and talent strip. Zuffa has I'd say gotten too comfortable in thinking talent is just going to drop into there laps but you look at a lot of the previous big names in MMA a lot of them only switched sports because promoters went after them, either directly or via having strong links with supercamps.

I simply voiced my opinion. Didnt know one HAD to love the UFC shows in order to be a fan. I used to love them, but they are IN MY OPINION, on the downfall. When's the last time you've been to a shooto event? They rock.

Never been, would like to someday, but that's not a possibility for me at the moment. And I'm not talking shit on Shooto, but to say that the UFC is on the downfall when it's current stable of champions are pretty much unbelievable talents is just sort of ridiculous when say afterwards that you prefer Shooto.

Possibly it's the marketing/production of the UFC that you don't enjoy anymore? Because I've felt that way at times.
