"UFC will be the biggest sport in the world by 2020"

The fun part about necro troll threads is seeing all the people who were banned. And most of those who managed to survive have yellows
Honestly, that always baffles me. What the fuck do people do to get banned?

Do people who regurgitate this shit actually know what the Ali act is?

It's not even enforced in it's namesake sport of boxing lol.
If any law isn't enforced it doesn't work. That's not an argument.

@Regal Boy Ali act? HAHA!

Ali act is not good for MMA aka UFC ... MAYBE (HUGE MAYBE) a modified version of the Ali act.

u made my daay hahahhahahahahahahahahahahahhha
A modified version then, you understand the point. Stop acting like a moron and typing "hahahaha", it looks pathetic.

MMA fans are DELUSIONAL AS FUCK.

Even KB/MT/Boxing fans know where their place is, but MMA fans are so fucking dumb.

I never gave a shit about GT and i would never use that, but most of you dont realize HOW SMALL combat sports are in general (especially UFC fans):

Forget MMA ... boxing is at his worst, but its still bigger than MMA at his best.

Again, the past twenty years have been an incredibly weird anomaly in human history. In every other era, combat sports have been the biggest sports in the world. This includes the 20th century.

Boxing was bigger than every other sport globally until only a few decades ago. This is a strange and temporary anomaly in human history.

So you had no idea what it was and were just talking out your ass. Next time just admit it up front.

God damn some of you are delusional as fuck lol.

For a lot of diehard MMA fans it's the only sport they follow. So they're usually pretty damn clueless how niche it is when compared to something like the NFL or Soccer.

So you end up with guys who clearly don't know what the fuck they’re talking about but throw something like the Ali Act out there as some kind of street cred for combat sports fandom lol. They might as well be talking gibberish.

Obviously a martketing gimmick.

But UFC has grown pretty fast regardless. The world knows conor, a lot of people in the US i'd say Nate and Khabib are pretty popular. Khabib also in russia and a lot of asia. Now you have guys like Adesanya blowing up.

At this rate MMA will become a mainstream sport pretty soon. Biggest in the world? Prob never.

I asked my classroom (I teach Calc 3 at a community college) if they knew Khabib and only like 3 people didn't know.

I don't know what shithole you live in but everyone knows these guys where I live (nyc)

Say outloud the name of any boxer save like 3-4 guys, you think anyone knows or gives a fuck lol?

UFC fans are generally dumb as shit, but insecure boxing fans are just as bad.

MMA has plateaued aside from a couple outliers that come and go IMO. Dead? lol ok.

Is it, though?

I have little doubt it's worth a bare minimum of 4 Billion today.

When they sold they had multiple offers between 3 and 4 billion. That shows that numbers must support a valuation in that range. Since then WME has added a lot more media value into the company. A lot of media deals ended up doubling or more since they took over. I would say on the low end it's worth 4.5 Billion and probably high end 6 billion. I know its a big range but none of us have hard numbers. Best that is out there is the news story a while back that the current round of investor money worked out to the UFC being valued around 6 billion.

Well for one UFC isn't a sport. It's an organization

MMA has a lot of stigma. Tattoos, cheesy tshirts, trash talk, BWW, CTE, etc. I actually think they are doing well with the Reebok, USADA and ESPN, trying to mainstream and polish it. It seems the fighters and fans are not happy about it though

It's as simple as this: MMA is MY favorite sport, but not everybody is ME. I know sports are a manly thing but so few women seem to watch it. And as far as the PW pagentry goes a lot of casuals don't even know if it's real

*sigh* I agree with Ariel. In ten yeara it may be a step ahead or a step behind in popularity... But christ it's not going to become #1 over night

If/when MMA gets regulated under the Ali act, then it will become the biggest sport.

If they ever cure Alzheimer's and CTE and other Neuron degenerative diseases/disorders, literally every non-combat sport will virtually end, or at least become second rate compared to combat ones.
One thing you'll notice about all the popular sports, is that they make their own rules, instead of the government making the rules for them.

In the most successful sports organizations, the athletes represent themselves as a union/players association, instead of being represented by a bunch of suits who can't even score a fight properly or agree on the definition of a downed opponent.

Like I bet if American football was just invented 20 years ago, the NFL would be regulated by the athletic commissions. If they wanted to change the definition of pass interference or something, it would take years of bureaucracy and then only some states would adopt the rule change.

tl;dr the ACs are necessary but actually kinda suck. The UFC would actually be better if the UFC and fighters worked together to make the rules

Yeah I kind of have a feeling UFC will get passed up, most of the top PPVdraws are definitely within a few years of retirement.. Jeffrey Epstein isn’t dead, just google what a dead mans switch is
9 years ago Dana White said this. About 4 years after that Dana claimed UFC was bigger than the NFL globally and neck and neck with soccer.

With 2 years to go how close is UFC to being the biggest sport in the world? Conor is definitely one of the world's most famous current athletes.

Who does the world know?

UFC can't seal a deal with Fox who want to pay $200 million a year for the UFC.

The premier league TV rights for 3 years just sold for $5 billion. That's just under $2 billion a year. For the football in one league, in England...

Realistically how many more years will it be until UFC is the biggest sport in the world? 5 years? 10?
