UFC weight-miss/withdrawal statistics after one fighter misses weight and one is withdrawn last minute from #UFC237

Since early weigh-ins adopted fighters missing weight now have a 36-34 record

Lighter weight classes and female divisions still the main culprits

Whats really weird is the three worst months on record are all November.. November 2016, November 2017 and November 2018...

Why are there a disproportionate amount of weight-misses in November???

Thanks for the hard work. I love threads I can go back to, to get factual info easily.

I dont mean to be a jackass. But im gonna need references

Thanksgiving dude.

All about them mashed potatoes

When these threads come around, its important to remember that USADA most definitely has had an impact on weight cutting.

Depending on the geography of the fighters who missed weight most in November it could be a long thought situation of defense mechanism against colder seasons.

It has been long thought that the human body will slow down the metabolism to insulate the body with fat during the winter months.

I am not claiming this to be science or even bro science. I am however claiming it has been considered a thing for a very long time.

except if you look at the graph weight misses actually dropped after USADA came in

The early weigh-ins are what saw the spike..

in what sense?

all of those weight misses/withdrawals can be found on either the wikipedia page for the event, or tapology page for the fighter/event

Early weigh-in was adopted prior to UFC 199, in June 2016.

The UFC joint partnership with USADA was announced in June 2015, and the first tests appear in third quarter of that year. It didn't really spin up until 2016, and this is easy to confirm with the number of athletes tested by quarter doubling.

I think it is common sense this may be a co-founding factor. We don't need to guess if some MMA fighters have used banned substances for their weight cuts. That is an absolute fact.

I know the dates, i literally marked them on the chart.

When the USADA program started, and when the IV restrictions came in

The USADA program may have forced some fighters to go up in weight because they could not make weight without ped's, but theres no evidence that it has directly contributed to fighters missing weight.

People like to cite teh IV ban, when in fact the IV ban appears to have had no impact, and if it did have a delayed impact of nearly a year, then it just happened to coincide with the early weigh-ins

It’s very interesting that the lightest weights tend to miss weight most often.

Also interesting that Dern missed by the largest %.

Is there a graph showing the number of times and percentage of time that people missed weight ?

Lets do a thought experiment Dim. The USADA program, primarily rolled out in 2016, likely resulted in fighters:

1) using less PEDS to make weight
2) using the same amount of PEDS to make weight
3) using more PEDS to make weight

Which, face value, common sense, no BS answer would you enter if you win a million for being correct?

4 certain... you say duh error... lets fuck our cards and roster in new and inventive ways

Why fix a system that wasn’t broke...?

it’s like the Reebok debacle

can’t figure out WTF they were thinking, misguided roided Zuffa boardroom quasi virtue signaling being anti PED that backfired....

Think about this

so why did weight misses drop in the months following hte introduction of testing?

Lmao such few women on the roster yet they lead in missing weight. Talk about fucking unprofessional.

@-Dim- Awesome job. If you want to update your gym fields in the spreadsheet:

I think Jesse Ronson trains out of Adrenaline Training Center along with Chad Laprese.

Sijara Eubanks is on Team Lloyd Irvin.
