On PPV's they would have bonuses ranging from 50k-80k. I remember watching an interview with Dana years ago and he said they decided 50k would be the number from now on and this was well over 10 years ago. Bonuses have gone down, they paid more during the spike tv era.

With inflation, 50k in 2008 is worth almost 72k today. The bonuses are not as life-changing as it once was. People are literally making jokes about it now. I was watching a podcast and they laughed about how little the UFC pays. Terrence Crawford was clowning UFC pay on JRE. Its not good PR. This company could pay 75k or 100k bonuses and improve its optics significantly and actually make a difference in the fighters lives as opposed to milking them for every cent.

Dana White and the UFC doing their part to help reduce inflation.

Isn't he fucking awesome?

I get why they had to make it uniform, because fighters were complaining and all wanted to be on the big cards with better bonuses but it just shows how fuckin cheap Dana is that he picked the lowball amount to standardize instead of even a midpoint.

Not true. At his UFC debut 10 years ago in 2013, Conor McGregor uttered this sound bite:

They also seem to pay out fewer bonuses as well. Things like 'KO of the night' or 'Sub of the night' are gone as well to make skirting bonuses easier as well. A decade ago Dana gave an interview where he said that the locker room bonuses ranged from $4K to $25K as well. Meaning if you missed the official bonus the best that you could get was half of a full bonus. A far cry from the "millions" you often hear people erroneously repeat.

In most professional sports the bonuses are in the contracts already. So things like wins, leading in stats, getting an MVP or whatever are all prearranged and cannot be denied on some whim.

And they charging outrageous amounts for ppv's and tickets.

I was lucky enough to go the UFC 119 with my dad back in the day, and even back then I remember us paying several hundred dollars for okay seats. I can't even imagine what it is now. More then likely will be my only event unless they have another Noche UFC sort of event as fight nights are mainly at the Apex now.

The bigger difference was there were also a load of fighters on the card where 50K was 3 or 4 times their pay so it was crazy life changing to them to win it.

I agree the bonuses used to feel like big deal but now it is blah. I would actually rather than do one 150 or 200K one than 3 or 4 50K ones if they are too cheap to raise. Make it so when a fighter wins it makes a huge difference no to pretty much everyone except conor.

Lol no shit Sherlock. Why are people so fixed on fighter pay . Pay them. Like fuck this isn't going away. Stop bitching pay them

It's crazy, me and my dad went to 3 UFC's when the tickets were $25. One was in the 4th row, bunch of future legends fought on that one. UFC 22 or something.

And taken all the fighters sponsor money, that’s now theirs too
It's aggravating to see when you know how little of the profits actually go to the fighters. Then they take the sponsors away too just so the UFC can have it for themselves? The UFC is some greedy cut throat fuckers, man. Sponsors are a big deal with how little.most of these guys get paid.

Exactly right. Sponsors were a big deal. Some guys couldnt get sponsors, but thanks to UFC and it's socialistic program, every fighter now has a sponsor.

Improve the optics with whom? Hardcores are the only ones who know and care about this shit and they obviously aren’t marketing to us. Now if Billy only orders one ppv only per super blue moon Johnson decides to up his purchases based on the bonuses going up then…

Look at the other side of the coin though. They gave Conor a shit load of money & he doesn't fight. Wants to pick his fights & is so precious. A boss wouldn't want to deal with too many people like that on their roster as it would be a headache. I do agree that they deserve more $$ as a flat rate & have more bonuses to encourage fighters as well as help them out.
