Media UFC took out loans to pay owners hundreds of millions

Ngannou wouldn’t play ball because he was scared of losing to Jones and having his pay cut, name me another big fight the ufc didn’t deliver. Boxing on the other hand, the best generally only fight the best when they’re out of their prime like Mayweather/Pacquiao

It's not really true anymore. As a longtime MMA fan since UFC 1, believe me it used to one of my favourite things about MMA compared to boxing. But gradually, MMA fighters have become more diva-ish and cherrypicking has become as rampant as boxing.

Those fights I listed were examples of elite matchups recently in boxing, years after Mayweather - Pacquiao. And the only one that was a bit late to the party was Spence Vs Crawford.

If it was still always best vs best, we'd be seeing Jones Vs Pavlovich or Aspinall instead of Stipe, and we'd be seeing O'Malley Vs Merab or Sandhagen instead of Chito.

longtime mma fan since ufc 1? Your join date is 2017 sherbro, you didn’t know the forums existed until 2017? As for your other examples, Jones is about to retire after he fights Stipe, and Stipe will likely retire as well. Then we’ll get the changing of the guard and Pavlovich vs Aspinall for the new title. As for OMalley, he’s got a loss to Chito that should be avenged. Merab will likely fight Cejudo, who lost a split to Aljo, for the next title fight, unless Aljo somehow gets an immediate rematch which I highly doubt will happen. UFC always puts on the best fights possible, fighters don’t get to pick and choose like in boxing.

Jones is ranked #1 P4P by the UFC, and is 36, the same age as Terence Crawford who is #1 or #2 P4P in boxing and at his peak and wants to fight Canelo next. He should absolutely be fighting Aspinall or Pavlovich instead of 42 year old, extremely shopworn Stipe who hasn't fought for 2 years. If the best always fought the best, that's what would happen, but instead the Stipe fight is an outright cherrypick by Jones.

Whatever way you look at it, Merab is more deserving than Chito. He just gave Yan an absolute beating, the only person to do that to Yan, and he's also ranked above. Chito isn't even top 5, so fighting him instead for revenge is a cherrypick plain and simple.

Join dates don't mean much ;) I may have simply had no interest in posting on a karate forum until 2017, but the truth is my original account from 2004, I couldn't remember the pw.

If you look at my join date, I actually joined to tell people to bet on Floyd by TKO, but the mods only approved my account after Floyd had already won by TKO :D

Yes, to the tune of billions. WME purchased them with loans, then couldn't afford the interest-only payments and had to get a loan to pay for the first loan. Then when their credit was about to be downgraded below investor class, they got a third loan to pay for the previous two.
They are fine they just bought wwe for 12 billion

I'm curious to how these loans are structured.

If wonder if this is like taking out a loan against a piece of commercial real estate where you have to give a personal guarantee which allows you to get the money out tax free and then you just have the business pay the loan back out of free tax money.

It's a legal loophole. I bet it applies to big business in some way too.

was just having a bit of a joke regarding your join date lol we can agree to disagree on Jones/Stipe, as I think Stipe still has something left in the tank and he’s the ufc heavyweight goat whether you like him or not. Merab and Henry were supposed to fight after Henry lost to Aljo, so I don’t mind waiting for that one to be rebooked while O’Malley goes for revenge against Chito. No different than Jeremy Horn getting a title shot against Chuck back in the day, or Rampage getting a title shot against Chuck after beating Marvin Eastman.

Join dates can be deceiving here on sherdog...not everything is as it seems sometimes...you have to judge people by their mma knowledge to really get a grasp on who you're talking with.

I actually like Stipe a lot, really classic example of a wrestleboxer in the UFC, and have no complaints with him listed as UFC heavyweight goat. He put his wrestling and amateur boxing background to really good use. If Don Frye is the original classic wrestleboxer, then Stipe is the modern classic wrestleboxer ;)

But man, have you seen his fights since the first Ngannou fight? He is a shell of the guy who beat Ngannou. I would actually love to see peak Stipe Vs Jones, but now it should be a walkover for Jones imo.

Ive watched Stipe’s entire ufc career, he’s easily the heavyweight goat of the modern era, and one thing I can tell you about Stipe is he always comes back stronger after a loss. That’s his mentality. He’s been resting his brain after the Ngannou ko and is going to come out and put his will on Jones until he breaks him.
