UFC stacked 299 on purpose to give illusion that Sean O’Malley is a PPV draw

I don’t think they want to help Sean’s ppv numbers to make him seem more popular, it would only help his negotiating leverage going forward

It’s the oldest story in the book:

Big promoter is trying to sell it’s “cash cow” to the public and no better way to convince them but to surround said cow with interesting matchups with big names as well.

Once the PPV sells decent/good numbers, big promoter and it’s shills will quote this one event for eternity as reasons why their “big star” is a PPV draw.

It’s a method that obviously works, everyone is hype to see the card, it’s just very obvious what they’re doing.

Basically what I’m saying is, Sean O’Malley isn’t a PPV draw on his own, which granted is a very hard thing to do. He needs help, and the UFC is willing to invest in him.

They aren't trying to sell an illusion, they are trying to make him a star by giving him a push. They stacked Conor cards when he started main eventing too.

"But just wait 'til all those Gen Z'ers grow up and start buying every PPV 13 times per year 2030! THEN you'll see how big a draw O'malley is... when he's 35"

I doubt that there was any thought of that. If anything they didn't want a PPV before 300 that everyone would pass on. So they have this nice run of stacked PPVs 298,299 and 300.

Nobody knows the PPV numbers anymore…

Yep, I highly dount Sean's Fortnite loving audience is gonna fork 90 bucks, they will just watch the highlights on tik tok or stream it.

The worst thing Sean ever did for himself was losing the poofy hair. Seriously, it's what drew eyes to him. Same thing with Paddy and his bowl cut.

Not really sure what the thread is about. It's not exactly crazy that the UFC help promote guys who meet them halfway and promote themselves. I doubt they get a ton of extra views because of the undercard, but to whatever extent they do, of course they're more inclined to stack a card for guys who promote themselves over who just show up for a paycheck.

They stacked the card because it’s the same weekend as ngannou vs Joshua and what they’re really trying to do is draw buys away from that. They have a vested interest in dulling Francis’s post ufc shine as much as they possibly can to try and deter any other future stars from trying the same.

Just routine ufc counter programming.a tactic they’ve used for quite some time
They obviously didn't have the whole card planned then.

Except the vast majority of fights were all announced between December 12-17, and again O'Malley/Vera was announced even earlier in November.

The only fight that came after the Francis/Joshua announcement was Poirier/BSD which we know from the details that have since come out that they'd been negotiating it before that too.

So if anything it was Francis/Joshua trying to counter the UFC's existing big card that weekend.

Sean O'Malley's fight is the least anticipated fight for me out of the whole main card. The mother fucker isn't a star imo, he has no personality.
I'm not invested at all in the Chito fight.

Okay, what about this conspiracy theory?

In order to keep O'Malley as champ in a stacked division, the UFC has made the Flyweight & Featherweight divisions thin on purpose in order to encourage Bantamweight fighters to move up or down weight classes if they want to be closer to a title shot.

I was thinking that the fact its UFC 299, and UFC 300 is the next one that most casuals will wait to buy UFC 300 instead just because its 300 and they don't know much better. Sounds like a Wrestlemania or Superbowl thing to em

Champ KO/TKO artist with an entertaining personality helps sell PPVs.

Fans want to see fight ending violence or Sean get exposed.

It's a good idea to book a co-main to support a main that UFC isn't yet confident enough for it to stand on its own, sure. I don't see any deception here though. If Sean and Chito rock it, then they lived up to the main event booking. No one's going to claim Sean sold the card all on his own, other than maybe him, if he goes full megalomaniac.

This theory was said by Aljo quite some time ago.

Why are you taking his idea and not giving credit TS?
