UFC should move to UK/Europe

Can we move it to Japan and get rid of USADA ?

Maybe add knees on the ground? Soccer kicks? Stomps?
Grand Prix tournaments?

please?

Move to UK/Europe???

You do realise the UK have decided to leave the EU lol. It's like big news.
The EU and Europe aren't the same thing. How are the UK going to leave Europe? Perhaps they could saw off the Republic of Ireland and push away from Calais with a big stick?

I heard mixed opinions on the internet
Some people say it's big, some say it's not that popular
Thanks for making it clear to me

Nah its definitely very popular. Anthony Joshua is probably the biggest sporting star in the country right now. Theres been domestic PPVs drawing upwards of a million buys. Stadium shows with 90'000 people etc.

Its an apples to oranges comparison with some other sports though I guess. I mean, if you compare it to rugby for example - way more people play it than box, and the big rugby tournaments like the Six Nations are shown on major channels and do big viewing figures. But then on the other hand no British rugby player is as well known here as the bigger boxing stars, and no rugby players are making that kind of money either.

The UFC should forget about north America and set up in Europe entirely. Particularly the UK.
In the UK and Europe football/ soccer obviously is king but theres room for a solid sport in the top 5. Rugby etc are big as well.

In north America they have a too many giant leagues like NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL. UFC will never compete with these sports in the us or Canada ,but the reality is. All of these are basically just niche sports in Europe. Virtually none existent.

These sports are huge Because of the sheer size of north America but in terms of world wide attraction. They are low on the totem pole.

If they shifted UFC head quarters to UK.
Put all the big events on in local European times for the fans to regularly enjoy.
They could charge ppv I guarantee.
They would have to give us it all. Prime time Saturday night and the best fights.

Combat sports is pretty big in the UK ( boxing) right now. I can't speak for some other European countries but it could work.

Anthony Joshua regularly is pulling.1.5 million PPVs in his last few fights.

Last time I was in Germany (a couple of years ago) they seemed to watch more sports than in North America. Besides obviously soccer (Fussball), also a lot of tennis, cycling, formula car racing, basketball, team handball (weird sport but very popular in Germany). And apparently in winter ice hockey, speed skating, figure skaing and especially skiing are very big. And then they also seem to follow a lot of sports that North Americans only follow during the Olympics (if even then) -- volleyball, track and field, rowing and especially gymnastics. Its actually amazing how many sports your average German seems to follow regularly.

I don't know about the rest of Europe (though ice hockey is very big in Sweden), but Germans seem already to watch a huge number of sports -- not really much room for anything else.

... There is no way the UFC can even come a mile close to envision thinking about maybe being at reach to be in European major league radar...

Barclays premiership
Spanish Liga
Italian serie A
Jupiler league
Deutch league
Bundesliga
Orange league

And this is just soccer

Then add :
- Rugby
- Tennis
- Basketball
- ...

Then add the fact that basically only the UK watch MMA since it is more or less banned in countries ike France
Also countries like Italia Germany, Spain... does not have famous MMA fighters...

More importantly, UFC business model of PPV won't work in Europe because only the UK has a PPV model... The rest as long as you are subscribed to that channel, all event are free
Basketball isn't really anything in the UK. Its niche. Tennis is more seasonal.
It has a big place imo.
It's a big gamble but I think it could work

Lol, UFC doesn't really compete with other sports besides Boxing and I guess maybe pro wrestling. No one skips the UFC because they are an NFL fan. They're pretty different forms of entertainment. It's kind of like no one skips the movies because they watch the NBA

True for the most part. Sometimes the UFC has a PPV on the same night as a good hockey game, so I skip the UFC for that -- and I suspect it happens with other sports as well. But generally, as you say, they're independent sports and different times.

You know all I see is this sort of bullshit. No technical analysis.

How lucrative do you really think the UFC is? Most of these events in the US are selling seriously shit ppv numbers now.

Europe is a huge area with time zones only within a few hours of each other generally. Less than from one place in America to another.

Now they have ESPN which is a good deal but they could easily have had sky sports and sky sports box office in UK and some of Europe.

If Europe had big cards, big fighters, well aimed advertising and the ability to watch most Saturday evenings at a good hour. It would sell like hot cakes

Youd be surprised how many people just dont have the time and interest to genuinely follow multiple sports.
You always get diehard fans. Rabid fans of one or two particular sports.
And when you throw in there that the UFC wants not only your time but 60 dollars a piece to watch it. It gets tricky

Not a bad idea.most in usa dont care about mma but more about boxing.

Lol America did not discovered by themselves , it was discovered by brave and bold Europeans who like fighting and ruling
You misunderstood my question
I was asking about the popularity of combat sports in the UK

NBA/MLB and even NHL are much bigger than MMA (worldwide).

Basketball is one of the biggest sports in Euorpe.

You know shit.

MMA isnt even the biggest combat sport.

LOL

Why UFC make this card same day and time as the Champion's League final? Nobody in Sweden/ Europe is going to watch this card over that game. Nobody.

Even if Yurpeeans are willing to shell out for PPVs the amount the Murricans and Canucks pay, the numbers is still isn't enough. Unless tax breaks that WME couldn't refuse is offered.

They’d get fucked in the ass by European employment laws.

All fighters would become employees. They would unionize.

Taxes and social security and insurance.

Also their monopoly could be very easily contested because in Europe the authorities take monopolies VERY seriously unlike the US.

Dana could be sued for all the stupid shit he says and promises.

Conor would definitely be doing time in a British prison if he pulled off that bus shit in London. Same in Germany or France (the riot police would also have given Conor a good kicking in Paris).

Wife beaters wouldn’t get entry visas or would have refused entry.

All of which is good but WME isn’t that stupid about it’s bottom line.

They’ve got an unregulated fuck everybody market to do their bullshit in the US.

Plus the majority of fighters live in North or South America.
