Thanks for the thread @Jackonfire

Would have been nice if they all made weight.

I’m looking forward to this card. I have some really great memories of Atlantic City. Including getting a tattoo with some of the $800 I had in Roulette winnings, at about 3am. After a The WHO, and Joan Jett, and the Blackhearts concert in the same venue as the fights.

This is a very high level ME. Whether people know it, or not. Whether they like wmma, or not. And one of my favs is fighting on this card.

Loopy (10) with a chance to break into the top 5. Virna is ranked 5th (UFC), and on a 2 fight win streak.

Loopy is the -200 fav on Tap. With 80% picking her to win. That’s tripping me out a bit, that so many people are picking Loopy. Virna is not even a little bit of a joke. Loopy won 4/4 fights in 2023. That’s probably why so many people are picking her. But this is a definite real step up in competition. And if Virna won, I would not be surprised. No controversy and may the better fighter win.

Wishing Loopy the best. I’m low key confident about this fight. But that means nothing in this sport.

Canadian girls kick ass.

Enjoy the fights, everybody.

A pic from The WHO concert. And the waitress uniforms at this Boardwalk side, beach bar.

Yeah, this is a big step up for Loopy rankings wise and its enough to give me pause as a Loopy fan. I want her to win but like you said, Virna is no joke. I'm actually a fan of both ladies, may the best win. I remember scrolling through Virna's instagram last year and she actually has a great sense of humor.

Kind of jealous that I never got to see The Who. John "The Ox" Entwistle, the bass player, is someone I've always respected as a bass player myself. He died doing what he loved (hookers and blow). And speaking of Joan Jett, this is my phone's lock screen:

Thanks for the thread bud. So only one fighter missed. Not too shabby. Agree with you folks that Virna's no joke. I picked Loopy but wouldn't be surprised either way. The ME is high level and I'm expecting great performances from both.

Yes indeed The Who and Joan Jett rule.

See ya'all in the PbP!

I never got to see Entwistle. He died literally on the eve of their 2002 US tour. I didn’t see them for the first time until 2006 in Edmonton. They had Ringo Starr’s son Zak, on the drums (I never saw Keith Moon, either). And Pete’s son Simon, doing rhythm, and acoustic guitars.

Townshend got visibly zapped early in the show. I was in row 7, so I wasn’t far away from him. He faltered, and he looked like he might go down. But he survived the shock and I bet most people didn’t even see it. I just happened to be looking at him when it happened.

Entwistle was amazing. John Mcvie too. Two of the best bass players I’ve ever heard. Dead on timing to drive the song, with two amazing drummers. But they were both stoic as fuck, on stage. No emotion, no real movement. Just plucking away on some amazing songs.

I’ve only even seen this one small clip from the concert I was at in Edmonton in 2006. We didn’t have the technology then, that we take for granted now. Nobody had video recording on their telephones. And not all phones even had cameras on them either.

The Who tour made this post. It’s about a minute at the beginning of I Can’t Explain.

I found the perfect vid to explain John Entwistle live on stage. While Keith Moon was still alive. 3 massive personalities in Daltry, Townshend, and Moon.

And Entwistle just doing his thing. It’s cool to watch. An amazing bass player.

Have I missed anything good? Just got in, all I heard is it's a night of eye pokes.
