UFC on ABC 5 is absolutely stacked.

Malkoun is so boring but good it seems UFC ain't booking him lol.

Yes it def surprised me, caught me off guard and really wasn't expecting that. Way better than that Canada ppv card too.

Yeah, I am one who tends to give conservative grinders and point-fighters a ton of leeway because they're doing their best to fight for their paycheck within the rules of the sport while minimizing damage to themselves. And frankly I think their style serves a valuable and legitimate "gatekeeping"/litmus testing function for guys on the come-up.

But man... guys like Malkoun really stretch my patience with that outlook lmao. I'm still always fairly interested in seeing him fight just because I want to see if there's anybody who can stifle his grappling, but yeah the guy isn't exactly moving the needle. I laughed when the UFC matchmade him versus Maximov.

I mean, if we are going on a name value, and how well known fighters are, perhaps, but how good the card is doesn't have to be dependant on how popular fighters on the card are.

I have the most fun watching two fighters I'm familiar with and seeing what happens. When it's two people I don't know it might be great but might be way less interesting. If I know the two fighters well even a lame fight can feel fun cause I'm comprehending what's happening.

And the higher the weight class the more interesting it is to me. MW LHW HW

No idea why Emmett is headliner vs a dangerous contender

Are they? I haven't seen a lot of discussion happening since it's like a month out. I expect Topuria would be a heavy fav.

I'd favour Topuria too, but if and only if Emmett still has it, then it can go his way too.

It's worth noting that Emmett has dropped everyone he's faced at FW except Kattar and yair, and he clearly hurt yair pretty badly.

Win or lose, I think he'll at least test topuria far more than others have.

an A for effort. i'm sure it was good too.

The card is coming up next month, it isn't for this weekends, let me check, it's on the 24th of June.

The cards before this card doesn't seem to be anything to write home about, but then doesn't mean it can't be bangers of a card though :)

The world would thrive with more men like you. Thanks for always being a gentleman and treating your sherbros with respect. I appreciate the love my brother

Definitely, I think it's always appreciated, love can be hard to find and small words can mean a lot, good or bad. It's not always good that comes through on here nor in the real world, which makes it doubly great when it does, and fortunately it does.

That card aint stacked lol. These free cards were though^

Brings back memories.

UFC on Fox 5 vs UFC on ABC 5 you say? haha

I will agree that UFC on Fox 5 had much better top 3 fights in Bendo/Nate, Shogun/Gus and BJ/Rory. But this card is much better overall.

The other card was a pretty solid one as well. It had Usman and Ngannou on prelims, first and third fights lol.

I guess I wouldn't say it's been overwhelmingly leaning towards Emmett, but when it was announced I seem to remember seeing more picks for him than Topuria.

I could be wrong on that, just what I remember. But since the day it was announced I also haven't seen a whole lot of discussion on it.

I would be shocked if that was the case. That wouldn't make much sense to me.

But I also haven't seen much discussion on it either, probably because it's almost a month out I guess.

I expect Emmett to be a heavy underdog by odds and by Sherbros.

We will see if Emmett still has it.

Robocop is way too low down the card. He should be in the slot of Lane/Tafa, who are way too high in placement.

Taira and Rebecki are also way too low in terms of card placement.

Yeah, this is a banging fight card.

I think the fight order may not have been finalized yet.

But also at the same time, UFC fight orders doesn't necessarily make sense lol.

It's a banging fight card indeed, with great fighters you mentioned and some more.

Much love big guy.

Kattar definitely beat him, but that's the past at this point.

Topuria doesn't have the defense that Kattar does, but he throws clean combos with power.
Emmett throws wide wild power shots, so I think Topuria will be better served to use straight punches.

Kattar is a great boxer. If I'm honest, I thought Kattar could beat Max, but oh boy I was wrong.

Topuria was losing to Herbert, though it's an entirely different fight than Emmett, and Topuria did pull it off. It's also true however, that Topuria hasn't faced anyone like Emmett before either.

Topuria does have tighter, technical boxing than Emmett does, but Emmett does have a reach on him, a slight one, and it's not like Topuria is someone who throws a lot of straights either.

Personally, I think Topuria is a real deal, and I'd favour him here, but if Emmett is still in his prime, or close to it, it'd be a toss up. Now he's pretty old for his weight class, coming off a bad loss, and Topuria is looking phenomenal yes, but if Emmett somehow still has it, I can see this going both way.

Yeah, three title fights plus the conclusion to the Khalidov Vs Askham trilogy (Khalidov is the biggest MMA star in Polish history and someone the UFC cheaped out on), plus Pudzan, plus Glory champ Wrzosek.

Great card, should be extremely violent.

Extremely Violent you say?

giphy.gif

Yeah it sucks Khalidov never came to the UFC. I mean not sure what is going to happen to Soldic either, he got starched by a guy whom I think was supposed to showcase Soldic to US audience, and he didn't look great in his first onefc fight either. Therein lies the rub, I guess. You might have a guy who could've done well in UFC, but they may run into guys in a lesser org.

Gamrot is doing real well though I guess. Thought he beat Guram too.

Maybe Parnasse is the next big thing to come out of KSW?

Topuria throwing hooks might work out in his favor only because his are shorter and cleaner, but I feel it would benefit him to work off of some straights.

Not sure how much Emmett has left in the tank but his power is still there.
He might even still have some speed left I guess we'll see.

Man being enough of a ufc simp to have heard of these fighters, i couldn’t imagine being in that situation

Literally been saying PRIDE>UFC longer than you've been a member on here. Just because I call a stacked card stacked, doesn't mean I'm some ufc shill whose greatest role model in life is the goat ufc shill cormier.

This is a card full of just bleed finishers, if you're not following a lot of fighters on this card and you enjoy violence then you're missing out.

There in lies the rub, I guess. It's definitely true, no matter how good the card is, you want to watch fighters you know. Doesn't make the card any worse though, which is a great, great card.
