Cliffs :
-UFC is now valued at close to 16 Billion
-Paramount overpaid for UFC rights to get everything
-Originally Paramount only getting fight nights. Decided to get ppv cards too but had to pay extra.
-PPV Cards almost went to Netflix or Amazon
-UFC is expected to keep growing and get more fans now that everything is more accessible on Paramount + CBS
-Paramount is betting big on UFC and is advanced talks for Zuffa Boxing

The UFC should use their extra money to expand faster abroad in Europe and Asia. They are focusing to much in America.

I really hope they ditch just about all the changes ESPN made. As someone who has been watching since UFC 1, fought myself, been to dozens of UFCs and hundreds of mma shows, cornered UFC fighters and has worked in multiple aspects of the MMA world, I really have disliked the watered down marginalization of the sport over their tenure.

This is an opportunity to reinvent the cheesiness ESPN injected into "cage fighting."

I'm looking forward to being interested again.

It's like what's going on with WWE. They're a lot less popular than they used to be, but with the crazy rights fees for live entertainment, they're more profitable than ever.

Ranked guys still begging for 50k bonuses
I always said that MMA is a dog sport and not a wolf sport such as Boxing.

In MMA, contracts are very restrictive, and is very decentralized. If you are the UFC champion you will never fight the PFL/ACA champ, even if it is a mega fights on paper. If you are boxing WBO champ, you may unite belt against the IBF champion.

Getting the hyena share is how the system works in MMA. In boxing, you gets the lion shares.

But it is not that bad, this is just how the game is. MMA is still an opportunity for many people to escape poverty and a solid economy.

ESPN is known to "clean up" sports and make them dull. All their sports broadcasts get criticized. They like everything to be a very sanitized viewing experience and well rehearsed. Hopefully the UFC is more laid back with Paramount. Think fight cards are going to be stacked differently now that ppv are gone too.

I remember back when they sold the UFC for 4 billion people laughed at everyone who overpaid when Fertittas sold.

Thats a lot of money. Its funny though the cowboys would probably sell for close to.16 billion. Ufc is definitely climbing its way up though

Also paramount paid extra because the Donald made sure his boys paid each other. Dana got his money and Paramount got their merger. I doubt that will happen on the next rights deal. Im assuming the Donald wont be around then

Paramount is a weird choice if you want to be global. Netflix would've been better.

This Paramount deal is for U.S only, UFC can still do other deals in different countries but Paramount is trying to get UFC global rights too.

So, should we invest, buy stocks?
I'm half-serious. I'm not going to buy any stocks, but would the UFC be considered a good investment generally?

I don’t even think you can get paramount here. I’ve never heard anyone talk about it or say they have it.
