Pretty much what I've come to say. A lot like employment in general, many workers have stockholm syndrome and let their employer screw them as hard as humanly possible because thats the way things have gone in the past, it's the status quo. If the fighters don't eventually stand up for themselves and break the cycle of exploitation, the UFC will continue to push the envelope into how much revenue they can make by taking further pay and benefits from the fighters until either it reaches a breaking point, or the UFC has finally stacked the deck so high it'd be literally impossible to stop them. As of now, the latter is looking like the upcoming reality, and that's really sad.As long as the fighters allow the UFC to treat them like shit, this will continue
When the fighters actually decide to rise up against the tyranny of UFC and expose them for the scumbags that they are, this sort of treatment will end
Yeah especially with the former ties to questionable individuals like mobsters the UFC is doing some weird ass shit with their revenue, very shady practices have been going on for a whiie and have increased, really id say since the Reebok deal it's been an increasingly concentrated effort to severely underpay fighters unless you're a great draw and you're STILL only getting a cut of all the revenue you've actually generated. Nobody can oppose the UFC monopoly as a promotion and they get to generally do whatever they want. Things need to change or I expect an sharp decline in quality of fights and fighters as top tier talent will refuse to be underpaid and go elsewhere and we will starting to get DWCS alumni as main events. Can't wait for the downfall of Dana via his greed. It cannot happen soon enough, UFC is going to one day be split right open by one of many unethical/illegal practices they partake in, and a large chunk of the roster will be redistributed amongst other promotions, and it'll be the best thing to happen to MMA instead of having this pseudo-monopoly. I'm making a prediction now, Dana White gets indicted on tax evasion or money laundering in the next decade, things like Power Slap are just too obvious vehicles to wash money with.
And they most likely never will. Complete lack of any sort of class consciousness an solidarity among themselves, or even a belief that people should have any guaranteed rights when bargaining with their employerAs long as the fighters allow the UFC to treat them like shit, this will continue

It's circle jerk, more than half of these weirdos in this thread don't even care about the fighters in the first place. It's just their way of trying to jump on the bandwagon on hating someone in Dana they have no connection to. These are the same clowns who bitch about everything the UFC does and want them to fail so bad so these fighters & everyone they "care" about will be unemployed. This place gets more bizarre by the day.
Let me see if I have this right.. If somebody gives me a BD present every year for 10 years. I’m allowed to bitch if they stop doing it?
Or a Christmas BONUS every year from work. And they stop doing it. I’m allowed to bitch about that too?
That’s happened in real life to me. Or maybe say us 20 employees get a $50 gift card for Safeway. Yet the company is making a fortune. But can’t afford to spend more than $1000 on Christmas BONUSES. Nobody I know cries about stuff like that.
I’ve also worked for companies that would give me free tickets to NHL, and CFL games. NHL tickets are very expensive. How about the annual Christmas party. Or the annual golf tournament, and shit like that. Some companies did, and some didn’t. None of them were obligated to do any of that. And if they just stopped doing it I didn’t cry about it.
These perks, bonuses, etc were free. I appreciated all those things but didn’t just expect to get them for eternity, or ever in fact. Some did treat us much better than others. That’s the way the real world works. At least since I started working at 13 years old.
These places hired me to do a specific job. That’s it, that’s all. The wages were negotiated before actually being hired. If special PPE was required. Did the company pay for it, or the employee? Renewing safety tickets every year or two to work in Alberta’s Oilpatch. Does the company pay, or do I? A new drivers abstract every year. Who pays for that?
Are you people serious?
The sense of entitlement amongst people born since about 1990 is unbelievable. The disconnect I feel with a LOT of people 35 and under is insane. Apparently a lot of them feel the world owes them something. And they cry when they don’t get it.
No company is EVER required to do anything like this unless it is literally part of a contract. PERKS, and BONUSES are just that. A performance bonus in the real world is one thing. Or even in the contracts of athletes where if they get so many wins, yards, points, etc is one thing and is specifically written into contracts. Or if you sell so many cars, houses, etc.
But why do so many of you expect a free ride all the time? I doubt that POTN bonuses are actually written into standard UFC contracts. Yet people say the UFC is cheap for not raising them every year to match inflation, etc.
Again.. Are you people serious?
At least some of you people are smart enough to say WME, or UFC. The rest say Dana.. Like he has autonomy over EVERYTHING in the UFC. He doesn’t even negotiate contracts. So get a grip, alright. The obsession gets creepier and creepier.
Didn’t Emmet go on social media about a year ago complaining that his free UFC tickets were in the nosebleeds or some shit?
Yes, he did..

Give these younger generations an inch and they DEMAND A MILE.
It’s absolutely bizarre to me how so many of you display fake outrage at things that have nothing to do with you. Or that you literally care more about an athlete’s free tickets than how much you get shafted on your own wages, etc.
It’s time for some of you to grow up. This is insane.
Or people who actually buy tickets to support said fighters, you know supporting the same fighters you so care about but don't do anything than cry about online?Gotta make room for them influencers I guess.
Bunch of absolute fucking weirdos. You gotta love this place. 100+ hateful posts running with a completely false statement with not a lick of effort to verify, if it fits what you want to hate then it has to be true. There is literally nothing to see here. Nothing changed folks.
You are obviously not a fighter or employed by a promotion/production that features you as a star. I got free tickets to a show I worked on last summer and I didn't even star in it. Weird huh? Not.Common courtesy?
Its a job, not charity. My boss doesn't pay for my family and I wouldn't expect him to

Its also pretty low of the UFC to stop providing family tickets after years of doing so, and not inform the fighters.
I typically support Dana and the UFC, but a sleazy move is a sleazy move. On this issue of fighter pay/benefits/compensation, I feel the UFC is moving in the wrong direction and this is a perfect example.
I don't know the answer to the seating question at the Apex, or how many tickets each fighter used to get, but apparently there used to be plenty of seating for families, and the UFC is trying to save a few bucks. How? Is there even enough seating at the Apex to give every fighter four tickets?

"How"?, you ask, and I am assuming you mean how is this an example of the UFC moving in the wrong direction? TO answer that I would point out the the UFC already at the lowest percentage payout payout for any major sports league, has now dropped from 18% to 13% (https://bloodyelbow.com/2023/05/24/ufc-finances-lowest-revenue-share/).

It matters because that is what Tim didn't understand about why he didn't get tickets as usual. The standard fighter ticket policy doesn't apply to the Apex because there is only seating for less than 100 people so 4 tickets to each fighter on the card and guest fighters (top 5 or with an approved request) would account for all of the seating.

The UFC is the only sport I can think of where more people are fans of the owners than they are the athleats.
I've done my fair share of supporting fighters via PPVs, buying apparel, events, etc. But according to some people it doesn't matter, it's far better to constantly bitch about it online, and they're doing everything they can to not support these said fighters when it comes to actually purchasing products and put a little bit of money in fighters pockets.I've bought every PPV I have ever watched and that's more than 90% of this site does.

Can't take anyone serious when they're in this thread saying they care & then in the next thread they gloat about illegally streaming events and shit all over [insert fighter name].
