I think it’s a city with too much fluff no substance. Hard to make an intellectual connection with people. When I moved from Chicago to LA I had the same experience. People in Los Angeles didn’t have that “Midwest drive”. I hate to say it, but people felt lazy and like they expected everything to be handed to them. I met a lot of folks who were career driven to a fault in the sense that they would step on you and not even bat an eye.
