News UFC Matchmakers upset about Dana signing Jake Hadley

I had hopes for him after his run in Cage Warriors but he fumbled pretty hard.
He's good and I think he actually landed the better shots last night but he lost optically and probably from lack of volume. Hes seemingly fell in love with boxing, which is good but he should use a more well rounded approach going forward.

Was Paul Hughes signable? Seems to me pfl was willing to pay more than ufc would. Theres no quarantee this is a world champ level talent. He "only" just beat McKee, an excellent fighter but who did his best work at 145, division below Pauls weight class.
IF he beats Usman and thats a BIG IF I will be intriqued.
He had already beaten Vucenic and Charriere who did get signed by the UFC. At worst they would have been getting a really good prospect for a market they seem very interested in.

They don't seem willing to get in bidding wars for anybody though, so the moment PFL showed interest in Paul it was GG.

Yes you gotta be special for bidding war

It's odd that the UFC PI determined he was too big for 125, dude is tiny.

Dana wouldn't have signed him if Joe Silva was still there

Because Dana never had any actual power under the Vegas mob. The court documents show that Silva co-ordinated directly with Lorenzo; all Dana did was jump into email chains to cradle Lorenzo's balls. Dana was in no position to 'overule' Silva.

Now Ari lets him run amok, because he has no idea about MMA and doesn't care about the company, he is just there to make ESPN executives his little bitches in rights negotiations.

It shows that you make your life harder getting into fighting full time when you don't have good power and/or naturally powerful grappling/wrestling. It's all a game of genetics.

That's what I wanna know. Him and McKee are both huge misses for the UFC

Especially HUGHES

The UFC told him they were waiting for a short-notice spot in 2023 (he even spent time in Kill Cliff to maintain if anything happens) and, when fighters started to pull out of European cards, they never called him before he understood nothing will happen and he left Paradigm management and joined the PFL

lmao Dana takes another L.

Let's not pretend now that other organizations have a legit flyweight division. Being a flyweight champion anywhere other than the UFC means nothing.

UFC was even going to scrap the division after DJ was traded to ONE.

Horiguchi and Pettis are bantamweights now but they were legit flyweights, both fought for the UFC and have since moved up in weight to fight for other orgs.

Saying this guy was Cage Warriors Flyweight champion like it means something in the UFC, and having @Hellowhosthat saying he's a "potential world champion" is laughable.

We just saw him fight. He missed weight and lost the first round, was taken down twice and lost the stand up. Sorry, but I just don't see him cracking the top 5.

I guess we'll see.

Every time he wins you know I'll tag you.

We definitely saw, bro. I'm quoting/tagging you right now because you was going to tag me every time he won. Well he's gone now, bud.

Most memorable moment of his UFC run was him calling Mokaev a duck for not fighting him only to then get controlled by Cody Durden and fall apart completely.
