Jacare has to expend enormous amount of energy/time to take down good wrestlers like Gastelum, and when he finally does, he has 1:50 minutes to submit him lol. He has to go for a home run submission or he's fucked. If he had 5 more minutes like in Pride that fight was basically over, he'd meticulously advance positions, pound him out and win.

Just saying, Wrestlers needs just take downs, let him back up/ rinse repeat and 5 minutes are perfect for that. BJJ guys in PRIDE had the whole 10 minutes..

Yeah this has been known for about 20 years bud. Unified rules favor wrestlers.

Would rather have it like that too, see kron in rizin. Would discourage the point fighting too, but we won't see it happen. Took long enough to even adopt the new rules and still many haven't.

Brian Oretega seems to do just fine.

This is fighting for entertainment purposes. Submission over position.

I agree. Also there are no up kicks, no knees to the head from side control, no 12-6 elbows from mount. Also the gloves are clumsy and make it harder to get under the chin, out from under an armpit, etc.

I see what you're saying, BUT Jacare did make a bad decision, imo. He had side control mid way in the first round, I wish he went for a kimura, easily one of his best subs, and not as risky as that arm bar with a minute left. Meh, is what it is. Jacare's biggest issue in that fight was his S&C...horrible. He came out in the second DEAD tired...can't believe he fought through that. I've never seen Jacare get that gassed, especially that early before.

Going for that armbar practically cost him the fight.

He went for it from a dominant position just off of instinct, forgetting this is mma and not jiu jitsu

Every single wrestler who has competed in MMA and done well has trained extensively in BJJ. Without BJJ wrestlers are fish out of water.

Pls see every UFC fight from UFC 10 and previous

Thats why the no time limit of the Gracies

somebody call jacare and tell him this guy will teach him Jiu Jitsu

Shalow dumb argument. Did you read the thread?

Should wrestlers be penalized for dictating the fight? Perhaps the bjj guy should secure the takedown first? JJ players should be counting their blessing 12-6 elbows are illegal. Things could be much worse for them.

A 5 minute round isn't set by the gods. Its a rule set by bald fat guys in an air conditioned room.

Im just saying, 10 minute rounds is much more fair for a jiu jitsu specialist. What is your point?

Yes. The average judge isn’t educated enough in pure BJJ. The view some advantage positions or atleast things that should be viewed in the context of MMA as stalemates as losing. The art is very marginalized while wrestlers are given extra advantages by way of the fence, over valued takedowns, low standard of what is considered work on top, misconception that top automatically means winning etc.

One of the many reason PRIDE was better. Big Nog never gets that decision against Ricco in the states even though Ricco was on the defensive the entire fight despite his top position

An opinion, on a forum...shocking.

I said nothing about his JJ technically, he's a god, I was pointing out the obvious, if you've done BJJ before: a arm bar is higher risk sub.

I look forward to your 80th message in two years time.
