Open weight has so much potential. We already know UFC is part entertainment so why can't we have some fun freakshow fights?

Because they dont want it on their heads if someone gets seriously hurt. Weight classes do exist for a reason.

I have an even better idea. How about open weight, open gender tourney? Just think about the match ups. Juiced to the gills 300+ pounds bork lesnar vs like strawweight nina ansoroff or something. Would be something to see.

Wish the fights could be re-booked. Francis should be fighting Stipe, but the next 2 guys are Blaydes and Rozen. Beast should be fighting Overeem. Volkov seems like he should be a step behind Overeem and would be a perfect level opponent right now for Gane.

Imagine ufc trying to make a tournamenjt with Conor,Khabib and the others. PRIDEFC format,one match every two months,w 2 fights in one night in the final.

You really think that even if Khabib and Conor would participate (they wouldnt) That UFC can afford Khabib and/or Conor to fight 4 times in 6 months?




People need to let tournaments go.
They are dead for the following reasons

1) USADA
You want guys to fight that often against top comp,without PEDS? good luck!
Also what happens if someone makes it to the final and then pops? gross.

2) NSAC
Simply wont allow guys to fight that often anyway,win or lose.

3) Control
UFC can control things much easier without tournaments. Tournaments are unpredictable. Comrier wound up being an incredible fighter,but at the time im sure hes the last person strikeforce wanted to win that thing.

4) Finally,money.
What do you win if you are the GP winner? A title shot?
Why should someone fight 4 times,when they can probably get a title shot by beating 2 ranked fighters,than entering a tournament where you have to win 4 times against god knows who.
Do you win money? How much are we talkin? Whatever is enough to have Conor and Khabib compete (which they would have NO need to do anyway) UFC cant afford it.

Tournaments are pretty much only useful for young hungry broke prospects,at best.

Not sure why Khabib and Conor are being referred to in a HW tournament proposal?

Not sure if you saw the Bellator WW tournament but it was pretty good. Title was on the line for each fight that the champion was in. The winner also got $1M on top of whatever their fight money was. I would assume the UFC could make the prize larger. As for your assertion the NSAC won't allow fighters to fight often enough just look at Kevin Holland. He has 5 wins in just over 6 months.
