Media UFC gloves lead to more eyepokes study says.

They need to sacrifice a certain amount of eyes, yearly, to the JBG for them to bestow the blessing of prosperity upon the company.

Oh, I guess that makes sense sir lol.
Fuck everyone's eyes.

Or maybe idk hear me out of this…just keep a closed fist!!! But what would I know I’m not a fighter.

Seriously how many fighters have never poked an eye then you got people like Jones who at this point do it purposely

It doesn't seem that there was much of a study, let alone expensive and detailed one.

Somebody watched bunch of tape and counted the eyepokes. Only thing one needs is FightPass/torrent and lots of time.

More detailed, interesting study could include analysis of this fights - how much time of those fight got actually spent striking at the punching/kicking distance, where vast majority of eye pokes occur, for example.
I too question how rigorous the study is and sample size, but are you expecting there to be differences in meta game between promotions? Not to mention does it matter if your goal is reducing eyepokes?

It's probably not out of question, but more importantly, with small sample size of Bellator fights in particular, it might have just happened to be that it had a lot of grappling, for example.

Damn, I never even realized that. I've watched so many Pride events and I don't know if I ever saw an eye poke. Or even a low blow actually....weird.
Wandy vs Gilbert Yvel actually ended immediately by a low blow.

We've been saying this for over a decade. PRIDE was right on damn near everything MMA as far as rules, scoring, environment and equipment. Extremely rare you'd ever see an eyepoke on a PRIDE card.

This. Pride did everything better .

Not counting Gilbert Yvel fights, how many eyepokes does anyone remember in pride?

Ufc could potentially be sued for products liability because they could improve the design and reduce eye pokes but they haven't. Not sure the rules, maybe because they don't sell the gloves to the fighters, they just let them use them, maybe not liable but someone could look into it if an eye poke fucks their vision

I dont think they care at all honestly, they (Dana and the gang) are just introducing Slap Fighting lol.

You know Jon Jones is gonna lobby against any changes……
