UFC Fox 23 - Pena vs Shevchenko - Denver

Imo if she's not training at altitude, then she's not taking her opponent seriously. If you dont train to fight at your optimal self then you're not taking your opponent seriously. Hendricks trained 4 times a WEEK for Gastelum instead of the 2-4 times other fighters train per day. Respecting yourself means you're respecting your opponent and what they can do.

That was one of the reasons I bought out of my bet, her camp doesn't sound too smart. Do we have any info on when she arrived/is arriving in Denver? Someone posted a photo of her outside the arena a couple days ago.

Strong leans for me on this card

Shev
Masvidal
Nate the great

I am also really hoping to get good lines on Nash & Shelton. Realistically Nash opens at +110 with Li at -130 or so, and Shelton fight opens as a pick'em just my opinion though.

Do we expect odds today for the undercard or would that be coming Tuesday. I wasn't paying attention when the Shorty Torres fight opened & wasn't able to hit his unbelievable line of -165. I ended up still HUGE on him at -250 (I think biggest pre fight bet I've ever made) but still sucks to know I could have had that much cheaper.

looks like Pena put on some muscle

i posted that photo but i think she might just have been there for some media stuff.. from the look of her instagram it looks like she arrived in denver yesterday but could be wrong.. i know she has trained hard with Yair Rodiguez leading up to his fight with Penn but again not sure where

She's always been muscled as hell but if she did build muscle this camp and not train at altitude, thats a huge negative right? She'll gas faster?

you are right just took a look at some weigh-in photos she looks about the same as her last few fights.. for some reason i remembered her being less muscular then this

Thoughts on Li Jingilang?

Have not watched tape for this fight but he's a fairly solid mid level guy who the UFC seems to like. Does a bit of brainfarting sometimes but he's average or better at everything I think. Decent athlete too, as I remember. I got the feeling that the UFC wanted him to be one of the cornerstones or their attempts to get into China but it kind of feels like they've just given up a bit on Asia for now.

Not 100% sure, but I think she trained with Rodriguez in Chicago. The combination of her moving to Chicago and Rodriguez training in Chicago for the BJ fight (I'm pretty sure} makes me believe that

I liked the Chicago move for Yair. Hes the perfect definition of a guy who requires all individualized training with how unique he is. Dk what kind of MMA team they have out there overall, but should be interesting to see what they do with Pena.

I'm also gonna start paying attention to girls who train with other girls (Shev) vs girls who dont (Pena I assume, unless i'm missing something). I feel like having other women to train with is a big advantage, want to try to keep track of that and see if its factual

No shit man I'm already sweating my 2.5u play on him... how did I not think to check on that first lol especially when I'm fading Frankenstein for the same reason

can you inform me what the situation is on frankenstein? is he coming to denver late? what about his opponent?

lefontes posted this on friday;

Important info:

Henrique Frankenstein still TODAY in Brazil. Imo hes will suffer in Denver, Henrique never was on altitude. So one week before the fight is very small time for fight on altitude.

Johnson have been in denver since jan10

unfortunately this Chinese guys doesn't exists at social media so can't find any info regarding preparation , shape, camps, tactics etc.
I watched a tape of both and also following Bobby Nash from more than 3 weeks. I feel pretty comfortable to make solid (as for me) bet on him. Solid prospect , wrestler with great cardio and power in his hands. Good mindset and serious carrier plans with UFC.
Probably i will parlay him with Francis for couple more $
Li trains at Ludwig for about 4 weeks. As Chinese MMA fans, I don't trust Li at all. Just don't bet on him

Maybe Li has a little advantage on feet but Nash has left counter and considering Li's aggressive style , I think Li will eat big left. PS: Li's TDD makes me worried

Confidence decrease Nash with Li being smart and going to Denver early. Maybe I missed it, but does anyone know if Nash went there early?

Need to watch a little more Nash but right now was leaning him by dec if odds were juicy. But he'll prob wrestle majority of the time, and if hes not used to altitude that could tax his cardio fast

Nash traveled to denver last monday

i definitely think li is better on the feet than nash, i really like his head movement and combinations. the question for me is will his takedown defence hold up? it's probably a no play unless there is an enviable line.

I think Masvidal showed way more urgency in his last bout and it seems like he finally realized what some of his problems are. That combined with the call out makes me think he actually has a plan and knows a way to beat Cerrone. I feel good about my one U, but wont add more since Cerrone is such a best at 170.

Mas has always wanted cowboy, probably had an eye on him since wec and strikeforce days.
Def the fight I am looking forward to the most of the card.

Watching tape now on RA. He looked slower in his last fight against TJ. Might be from ankle surgery or TJ is that fast.

He did look slower but like sham pointed out tj can make anyone look slow, RA did mention the ring rust he had and coming in to face no1 guy it was hard to get back into it and his timing was off. I do feel it was more then that though due to past injuries and brazil and usada this could be the new RA coming in.... not ready to write off RA yet and still favour him style wise here providing he is as good as he once was.

Thoughts on Li Jingilang?

Still reckon Jinga can get a win here, yeah he is not the most reliable fighter but he has hit some nice reversals and take downs of his own at times and should is quite a big guy for that weight.
Nash has that wrestling background and now appears has confidence in his cardio and has come out early to adjust better, he is a live dog also but very unproven and Li is his best opponent to date.
