man we're not seeing eye to eye here..

ground game a wash? no freakin way in my opinion.. cowboy is a waaaay better bjj'er... and larkin is on a similar level to story, cote & brown. for sure, imo.

no disrespect meant in this post, just emphatic disagreement
I'll disagree with 1 thing here. Larkin is better than the aforementioned fighters. Larkin has been great at 170 and in my opinion is a solid top 10 contender

I didnt say bums. I think mas beats them all handily too tho. Its not like hes been fighting top tier guys. Dont get me wrong he looked great up until the brown fight but lets not get ahead of ourselves. Hes been out boxed by many a fighter with no where near as good a boxing as mas but his ground game or headkick has saved him. Ground games a wash here and i think mas will pressure to nullify that headkick.

Plus larkin trumps anyone cowboy has fought at 170. Yeah he lost but it was damn close

Sham you are a damn good capper and I am always interested to see your breakdowns.

But c'mon. The ground game isn't a wash, or even close. Mas might be right in that his counter wrestling holds up fine and the ground game is moot because it never goes there. But if it does, that's way, WAY more Cerrone's world. He has legit top tier MMA grappling. Mas is fine I guess, but they are leagues apart.

Really ? I've read that Mas participated couple times at NAGA tournaments and thought his bjj as well as mma grappling is at top lvl.
I don't know this is not my area maybe some jitsu guy can give some insight.

He's shown nothing in MMA that suggests he's on Cerrone's level on the mat.

I participated at NAGA tournaments too and am 215 lbs. Cerrone would tie me in a knot on the mat LOL. This isn't to say Masvidal's grappling is crap, it's just not on Cowboy's level.

Mas is one of the more complete fighters in the UFC. His whole game is at top level buts he's killer instinct and dumb dcision making such as coasting when he thinks he is winning, let him down. He's found some fire recently though and I think he can make a run for the title if he beats Cerrone.

I dont think the fight goes to the ground but if it does, Im sure of his ability to work back to his feet.

i'm aware this was a while ago. but yea =P

I'm taking this opportunity with the drop in price to buy Assuncao for 1u. Will add another unit if it goes near evens. I knew that Aljamain money would come in, but this is a terrible matchup for him. He will need some hands before he can beat guys like Assuncao.

Man I can't help but feel that because Masvidal has been talked about so much as being underrated and flown under the radar for so long that somehow he has actually now become overrated in this forum. Cerrone would by BY FAR his best win of his 40+ fight career. Currently is is probably Chiesa in 2013. I get styles make fights, but he doesn't bring anything that Cerrone hasn't seen and Cerrone has handled pressure so much better at 170. I think Mas is a great fighter and can't fault anyone for taking a shot on him as a dog, but I think it's taking a leap of faith as this is a definite step up in competition for him and Cerrone only loses to the best.

This is the thing. As good as cowboy is and has looked at 170. His opponents at 170 have 1 thing in common. They are all rather slow. I think cowboy will have trouble with his speed and technique. I also think Mas takedowns are EXCELLENT as are Cowboys at 170. And I think Mas TDD is top notch.

I think the fight will play out mostly on the feet with Mas getting the best of it. And they may both get a few sneak takedowns. I think by the end of the fight you'll have a closeish fight with Donald just more busted up

Man. Cerrone has had trouble with fast boxers. Even in his wins he was lit up by fast boxers. Alvarez, barboza, even guillard even Jim Miller was lighting him up standing. But he was able to out last them. The thing is Mas doesn't really take much punishment or gas. I just think it's sort of a bad match up for Cowboy

With Jordan Johnson being a top prospect and Frankenstein's cardio issues amplified by the elevation and him arriving late I was sure I'd be all over Johnson. Just watched some tape on him and I am not impressed by his performance. From what I saw he's mostly just a cage hugger with poor striking, mostly just wild swings. I can't bet grinders anymore in 2017, but will be eyeing the r2, r3, and sub props.

He faced some solid guys on the regional scene to be honest.

The story of Jason Knight (and why he's so angry).

Frankenstein isn't exactly a technical striker either. His fights will always be tough to bet, because we've already seen 3 very different versions of him. He was superhuman against Wilson, then he was average against Christiansen, and last fight he was downright terrible.

So far :
Ngannou + Assuncao at +120
Shevchenko at -110
Caceres at +137.5
Over 1.5 rounds in Alvey-Marquardt at +100
All with 1u.

I still want to throw something on Masvidal, but I'm waiting people to bet on Cerrone the days before the fight so that i get better odds. Also, depending on the line, I may hit Ngannou by KO.

hey man are you in romania? what's the fanbase there like for ufc and combat sports in general?

Big Knight fan but I dont like him in this spot. He doesnt cut off the cage very well just chases his opponent with very little defense. His style works well vs the right opponents but Caceres movement is gonna be the key here IMO and something Knight hasnt seen before. If he just follows him around I dont think he will get much offense going and will probably walk into a lot of strikes. He's gonna have to cut Caceres off and get him on the fence.
Caceres have a really bad habit of throwing kicks on really close distance, especially in the later rounds, leaving himself open for counterstrikes, or knight could just catch his leg and take him down. If Caceres plays this smart and manages his distance well he could outstrike Knight from the distance, but have a strong feeling he will get cornered against the cage and do something stupid. If it goes to the ground Knight should have the advantage, he handled Hooker easy on the mat. Also showed some nice timed single leg takedowns in that fight.
