Important info:

Henrique Frankenstein still TODAY in Brazil. Imo hes will suffer in Denver, Henrique never was on altitude. So one week before the fight is very small time for fight on altitude.

IMO the striking disparity is much larger than the grappling disparity. I'd bet shev actually takes Pena down a few times, though I do worry about her getup abilities if Pena does land on top. She outgrappled Zingano but it didn't look like cat was trying to get up, more just sweep.

thanks for the info lefontes. confidence increase in Big Swingin Johnson :D

I just watched Shev's first two UFC fights. She initiated the clinch a lot against Kaufman and initiating the clinch against Nunes is what got her taken down by Nunes the first time. More tape to watch.

What i did take away tho is i hope Shev wins cos over five rounds she beats Nunes, and we are likely to get a very nice dog price.

agreed but might only take one td if Pena gets her back.. Shev looked lost on the ground against Nunes

even though shev showed amazing cardio against nunes and holm i am not excatly sure he has the cardio advantage over pena.. pena won r3 against eye and zigano and looked like she could easily go a few more rounds

Little off topic, but I am not super confident Shev beats Nunes in a 5-round fight. She came very close to getting finished in the 2nd and Nunes can pretty much fniish anyone in that division. That said, at dog prices I would probably bet Shev and maybe hedge a bit with Nunes sub. At steep dog prices, I would definitely bet Shev. If Shev makes it past rd 2, I think she wins 3,4 & 5.

Maybe, but Nunes did have her back in the second round of their fight and she managed to escape. Either way, I'm hoping for a nice line on Pena sub as a psuedo hedge for my Valentina bet.

true but it was very late in r2 when Nunes was already pretty gassed

Regarding Ngannou vs AA

Thinking Ngannou round 1 is going to get 2.5-3u from me. Hes gonna touch AA's chin once and it will be all over

I dont really remember shev-kaufmann but didnt kaufman mount her?

Kaufmann got a takedown midway through r3 and had side control, north south, mount. Up until that takedown Shev had controlled her in the clinch 80% of the time and she hit a few takedowns on her from the clinch.

Gotta rewatch but I'm fairly sure Shev just won two rounds fairly clearly and then coasted the last round just stalling out. Think you're right but that was on like 9 days notice in her first UFC fight. It's not a good thing obviously but as far as red flags goes that's a fairly small one.

Also the best fighters Pena has finished are Sarah Moras and Baszler on TUF and Dudieva in a pro fight. Shev was up against and won a round against a super dangerous black belt with huge power and 13 finishes (11 in the first round) in 18 fights who has first round finishes over three former champions and a Olympic wrestling medalist in her last five.

That's MMA math and obviously Pena could finish her, but most people seems to believe that Shev would win a 5 rounder against said monster, while we still getting even money on her against some 8-2 chick who has never finished anyone that's now ranked in the top 20 or has a winning UFC record. Pena's four UFC wins has a combined UFC record of four wins, eleven losses and a NC. If you ad her TUF opponents it's five and fourteen while Shev's opponents are eleven and five.

Not sure if this is a legit news site... but

http://www.mmanewsline.com/light-he...3-marcos-rogerio-de-lima-will-remain-on-card/

MMANewsline has independently confirmed that John Phillips has been removed from his scheduled UFC on FOX 23 light heavyweight bout with Marcos Rogério de Lima.

The reason for Phillip’s removal remains unclear, however it was revealed that the UFC has been seeking a replacement to step in on short notice against de Lima at 205-pounds for the January 28 UFC on Fox: Shevchenko vs. Peña card.
