UFC Fights Should Start Earlier

Yeah. Kids these days and their infernal racket!!

You call that music!??!

Get off my lawn and things as such!!

It is placed at the time when it will make the most money.

totally agree about the time. i don't know how many people over the age of 25 who want to stay up to one o' clock in the morning to watch a fight, it's too late.

I’m not blaming only ESPN, I just hate the format they use where they buy the cable space it takes for all of the fights and the possibility of decisions, but ends up being like 80% filler and 20% fights. I understand that’s how TV works, but I don’t like it.
So if a fight ends in 10 seconds, you want the next fighters to have no prep time and race out to keep the show from going to commercial?

Now let's imagine all the prelims fights end in the first round. Do we wait 2 hours for the main card start time? Or do we just tell the main card fighters "be ready between 6-10pm to run out and start"?

I think a company as big as the UFC can figure that out, they’re big boys. I feel like ppv main cards don’t last as long as the fight night cards, simply because they’re on their own time. If they can do it for ppv’s, they can do it for fight nights.

I love when cards start in the morning or afternoon. Can't stand this staying up til 2-3AM bullshit to watch fights.

Almost like what they've figured out is you make sure it fits within the broadcast time and they space fights out. When a fight goes short you fill the time with video packages, more interviews, and ads.

Im asking what your alternative format is.

I wish I had an answer to an alternative but I really don’t, I just don’t like the current format.

Maybe they should do more content in between and less commercials. Does the UFC make money off those commercials or is it ESPN network? The reason comes down to money, so that’s why I can’t think of valid solutions.

I guess I did, but they just drag things on too much sometimes, and I’m not trying to see all that. “This main event is brought to you by some random shitty movie that has nothing to do with this but they paid big bucks so we’re throwing it in right now.” Come on, just get on with it Bruce. I hated when they first started it and now it just irks me.

Right now one cares that cumguzzlers 8 is coming out.

Just move to China bro. Main card start time here is 11am. Can do whatever you want on Saturday night, wake up grab a coffee and watch the fights til about 2:30. Also Weill Zhang #1!!!

Even though I don't like the move to ESPN overall, they do a better job with most Fight Night start times. Even though some still start the same time as PPVs, a lot start at 4PM ET, which is ideal for me.

Earlier is not always better. For me, MMA-energy is later-day-energy, so I don't like to watch it earlier than about 4 in the afternoon.

I appreciate that PPVs are usually timed for the benefit of the local audience, so I have no expectations regarding those.

I wake up at 5am/6am Mon-Thurs for work. I kept the same schedule on the weekends except when UFC is on. Sometimes I'd stay up until 1:30 watching the fights then be thrown off until Tuesday. Last summer I just started going to bed at regular time and watching the fights the next morning. I have no regretted it one time and it's actually more enjoyable not having to keep checking to see what time it is all night.

Pretty easy to avoid spoilers as well if you take precautions..

You will never experience what Europeans go through, staying awake until 7am to watch UFC...
