I disagree, someone with a dehydrated brain would have been unconscious at the end of the first.

He gets hit because he can't get the fight down, and keep it down. And is sucking wind so bad from having to work so hard for it. Kevin isn't exactly great at take down defense. Which to me is why he gets stung, because he ends up stuck on his feet with his mouth open.
