I was surprised that Moicano basically dominated him on the ground. I thought BSD was going to provide a bigger challenge on the mat.

The problem was that benoit didn't play it safe on the mat -- he continously tried to improve his position instead of just riding the round out. Do that with a top BJJ guy like moicano, and that happens.

Moicano is one of the best grapplers in that division, so I wasn't surprised by him having the edge, especially in top position, but I didn't expect him to fuck bsd up so badly with gnp.

Kevin Jousset takes a few shots and it gets stopped on the feet.

Why does MMA treat the standing and ground so differently? Let fighters go out on the feet and stop fights when people actually have career ending damage on the ground.

Difference was that BSD was clearly trying to intelligently work out of his bad positions, which he did multiple times.

Jousset wasn't defending himself at all and was taking at least 10 shots that he just didn't see coming anymore over an extended amount of time.

Intellligent defense is the key difference here.
