A lot of MMA fans are pretty over TUF as an institution to bring in young new prospects into the UFC. What if the MMA community held a draft?

All amateur combat sport athletes could be eligible.

The UFC could send scouts to the following tourney's:
-NCAA Wrestling Championships
-IBJJF World Jiu Jitsu Championships
-Pan Ams World BJJ Championships
-National Golden Gloves Championships
-National Karate Championships
-US Open Judo Championships
-WKF Kickboxing Championships
-World Sambo Championships
-Olympics? (Most events have rules against pro athletes being members of teams)

I feel like this approach would result in a healthy, steady stream of upcoming talent from all over the globe and aid in opening up those international markets that are still young or even untouched territory for the UFC right now. Maybe the UFC could even set the athletes up with camps and everything, as if on a scholarship for their first few fights.

The UFC already scouts talent and can sign anyone they want.

Or they could put on a goofy internet show with 3 pals travelling to small mma shows looking for potential talent, and they can call it "Looking for a fight"...?

yeah, but sometimes they don't sign anyone for awhile even guys they totally should. The draft would be a way to ensure a steady flow of prospects.

Something like a combine might be an interesting idea. Not sure how they'd run it for evaluating fighter potential, though.

Maybe like on sport science where they measure punch and kick power as well as squeeze strength.

That's fair, that show is pretty awesome IMO, but I feel the draft would bring in more fighters. Maybe the two could work in tandem.

UFC
BellatorFC
WSOF
OneFC
RizinFF
KSW
RoadFC
LegacyFC
TitanFC
ResurrectionFA

All good ideas for other orgs eligible for draft.

Maybe not right now, but who knows what the landscape will look like in 2020, now that NY has legal MMA too.
Good point man, I don't know though I kinda don't like the idea because I don't want the UFC missing out on too much talent going to Bellator or something.

Not everyone in a MMA facet wants to do MMA. When you pick and choose who you want that's just a wrestler who wanted to do MMA or are you suggesting "draft" them while they are one dimensional and green?

it wouldnt work in MMA
