"UFC doesn't pay its fighters" -> "Conor is a greedy fck good riddance"

Revisionist history.

Aldo was the highest profile fighter to tell the truth about fighter pay.

What did you Conor fans say about him when he did?

Talking about it vs doing something about it. Also Aldo gets paid what he's worth. If Aldo goes to Bellator their viewership will not increase, so whatever they pay him is at a loss.

I think in most sports they don't tell athletes to stop training so they can do press. They work promotion and press around training, not the other way around.
True... for all we know though this could have already been scheduled and Conor just decided all of a sudden he wasn't coming. Who really knows in the end of things tho.

Every single fighter has to do this so it doesn't matter if they have to or not, hes on the same level as the person he is fighter. If he doesn't like it then he shouldn't have signed a contract.

There's a huge difference between wanting other fighters to get paid a better amount and realizing that Conor is going overboard with what he wants. You can have both views without them conflicting.

How is it going overboard. What's the difference with someone making 10mil who deserves 20 mil?

Right, but we are talking about UFC here and about a fighter who gets 10 even 100 times more money than average fighter which impose more obligations on him. Also there is plenty of time to train almost 3 more months.

I think Burger King workers in places like Boston deserve more than 8 bucks an hour after 8 years on the job, like some actually get. But if the fry guy wanted 10 million a batch, that would be too much.

I'm sure a lot of things are foreign to you. The UFC doesn't need you to understand their monetary practices, before they
make decisions with their own money. Did you play a role in building their business? Do they come to your basement and
tell you which flavor of Doritos to buy? Calling someone delusional isn't an argument. Do you have any substantive material
to present?

lol I was agreeing with you disagreeing with someone else.

people shouting for fighter pay don't understand the other things cost money too.

He just got choked out in a round and a half to a 10 day cabo Diaz. He doesn't deserve 10 million, please stop posting.

Aldo didn't have leverage like Conor does, though.Obviously he deserves to get paid more than he does right now but the truth is that he's not bringing that much money to the UFC.

Well then that means only Conor and Ronda could complain about the UFC and count...but TS claimed Conor is the first fighter to stand up to the ufc, he didn't say conor was the first superstar to call out the ufc or the first fighter with leverage to call out the ufc.

But Aldo isn't the only other fighter to complain either, I just used him as a specific example because the same conor fans cheering conor for "sticking it to the ufc" were bashing Aldo when he spoke out.

And 1 specific difference between Aldo and Conor, when Aldo talked out he spoke about better pay for him and all other fighters. Haven't heard Conor calling for better treatment of any other fighter besides himself

I think everyone agrees that any fighter can ask for as much as he can get till he puts his name on a contract. Once he signs tho, and if this is about money, not many will agree that it's right to come back a month later and try to hold them up for more.

really sad for aldo

irrelevant. He's still a draw and probably has a good idea of how much money Zuffa is making off of him per event

Yeah, I mean we can go back to guys like Frank Shamrock and Couture when it comes to fighters standing up to the UFC when it comes to pay.

No he isn't, maybe if he defends his belt. No one is excited about Conor v Diaz. No one wants Conor to headline UFC 200. He lost a lot of draw potential with all the shit talk then tapping out in the 2nd round. He damn sure isn't a bigger draw than he was at 196.

happens all the time in pro sports you hear about hold outs during almost every NFL pre-season. And in many of those situations the contract is re-negotiated to either add years, more guaranteed money, more incentives, etc.

i don't think you understand. high PPV buy rates are due to casuals, a re-match with diaz is bigger to casuals than aldo, edgar or RDA. If conor doesn't fight at UFC 200 you will see the evidence of his draw power in the ppv buys

You're crazy if you think the level of press Conor does is equal to the level of press other fighters have to do. And when Conor is doing press, he's performing. Most fighters just regurgitate platitudes and lines from their coaches.
