I don’t get the hate for the BMF title. I’m glad we finally get closure and see it defended.

It’s a gimmick for fighters who weren’t Division champions but good and tough fighters. Let the tradition of honoring tough or badass fighters continue. It’s like the international title and it gives some light to fighters outside of the Division’s belt.

It was hilarious that they made up the belt to put on a "more exciting" fighter, but then Usman ended up having a bunch of exciting brawls with multiple violent finishes as champ.

The only really bad defense was the first Jorge fight.

The whole notion of being a bmf is interesting.

I mean it could be someone like Ngannou for being a savage ko artist.
It could be Strickland for willing to fight any fighter that the ufc want him to fight.
It could be someone like Gaethje or Poirier for being hella exciting.
Or someone like Volk for going up in weight and pushing the heavier champion to his limit.

Why? The BMF title is a cringe gimmick and Masvidal has lost 4 straight fights. From Dana hanging out with 20 year old youtubers, to lame WWE style gimmicks from fighters… Why does the UFC have to be so cringe?
